The Lyrics

Have you ever had one of those gigs where you completely misjudge your audience?
Phil stands warily up on stage,
The volume turned down low
Looking at the audience, trying to gauge
How each new song will go
Are they ready, say, are they ready for "s**t"
Are they gonna worry when I explete
Out of the doorway they start to slip
Without being discreet

Another leaves in disgust
Another leaves in disgust
And another one goes
Yet another one goes
Another leaves in disgust
Hey! Did they say **** you?
Another leaves in disgust
Hmmpf!

How am I gonna get a sing-along
Without you if you're gone?
You're gonna leave me pissed off and sad
If you're pissing off to go home
I ain't happy - I'm unsatisfied
And I ain't gonna smile at defeat
Out of the doorway they start to slip
Being damn indiscreet

Another leaves in disgust
Another leaves in disgust
And another one goes
Yet another one goes
Another leaves in disgust
Hey! Did they say **** you?
Another leaves in disgust

Hey
You leavin'?
In disgust - in disgust, bleah
Hey
Another leave in disgust
Another leavin' nonplussed
Another one leave his crust, hey
I canna' believe the bust, heeey
Ooh, show's done

There's many a word that you can use to swear
At people as they go
You say "back off", you say "**** off", you say anything bad
Whatever's apropos
And I'm swearing - yes swearing at YOU
For standing on your own two feet
Out of the doorway you start to slip
Expletives blast you out of your seat, yeah

Another leaves in disgust
Another leaves in disgust
And another one goes
Yet another one goes
Another leaves in disgust
Hey! Did they say **** you?
Another leaves in disgust
Hmmpf!

Very good work indeed Phil! I wish i could write as well as this! I just don't have time to write parodies regulary! Im still proud of Letter T and Snakes On His Plane though.

Thanks, everybody. So far, none of my gigs has gone like this, but that's probably because I wimp out and self-censor rather than offend what looks like an easily-offended audience.
Jason - keep practicing, and I'm sure you'll be writing as well as this by the time you're my age ;-)

Alexander, no need to cuss! You should not think of it as wimping out, clean humor is a great achievement. It shows a person has class when one could say a four letter word, but chooses a creative way around it.

Hey, Philbo! Great job on an excellent early 80's song! (Or was it 79 in the UK?) I give you a perfect 5,5,5!

Better an audience leave from disgust than from boredom! 555

I can relate, but I haven't gotten that kind of reaction for a while. That means I've gotta get on stage more. I've never actually emptied a room (except when i was supposed to be last) but I have been heckled. Ah, those were the days.

no audience hurt here I was singing along

Well--I hope you are exaggerating your lack of performance ability for the sake of comedy, because this would be hilarious to see performed, 555

Well, Phil, you know what they say: One man's trash is another man's treasure. Clearly, we at Amiright have the good sense to treasure this one.

I was hoping for more of a pay-off at the end, but at least I stayed in my seat through the whole parody. ;)

Yes. (intro question).

You have better judgment than I. I just go ahead and offend people.... Hope these f***ing Fives don't offend you.
