The Lyrics

Oh, now my trousers are complete
Oh, I can't even see my feet
Oh, they stick out in front of me
Bell-bottom flares I'm just a sev'nties refugee

I was such a skinny son
With my drainpipe trousers on
I could diffract light, so thin you couldn't see
But when I got them platform boots
They didn't go with skin-tight suits
Heap big footwear, you made a hippy out of me

Then I went and bought some flares
I got sixteen different pairs
But none of them were seriously wide
So with needle and some leather
I sewed 'em all together
And now what I got is ten feet side to side

Oh, now my trousers are complete
Oh, I can't even see my feet
Oh, how they stick out in front of me
Bell-bottom flares I'm just a sev'nties refugee, yeah
Bell-bottom flares I'm just a sev'nties refugee

Hey! listen you
Now my trousers they could hide
The US cavalry inside
Ain't no figure-hugging couture, no siree
For my trousers hide my boots
Like twin cotton parachutes
Heap big footwear, you made a hippy out of me

Oh, now my trousers are immense
Oh, bigger than my garden fence
Oh, no figure-hugging, no siree
Bell-bottom flares you made a hippy out of me, yeah
Bell-bottom flares you made a hippy out of me

Get on your flares and strut!
Oooh, yeah
Bell-bottom flares
Bell-bottom flares

My word, Flara - there are some wonderfully extreme flares there... Must admit, I can see why you like the lyrics ;-)

Please consider this song dedicated to your taste in trousers.

WOW!! the song's amazing. I really want some leather flares, do you know of any shops in the Sheffield area that sell cheap leather flares?
Phil Alexander - May 15, 2005 - Report this comment
Sorry, Gabby - I've not been to Sheffield since drinking Roger and Out at the Frog and Parrot nearly twenty years ago... pleasant memories, but not of anywhere that might sell cheap leather flares.

Thanks Phil, a great song... brings back memories and makes me want to watch a '70s movie-555!
