The Lyrics

A low-bitrate mp3 of the song can be found here.
Took a tumble, stoved my finger, girl eloped with some old swinger
Tummy's fat and thighs are heavy, seared the rings in my new Chevy
Brakes are squeezy, balding tires, old hair dryer, hair caught fire
No promotion, no hot passion, sleep alone (so out of fashion)
Got me rabies, gotta clot, and prim and slim, alas, was notter
Daughter's hookin', sister’s whorin’, bit unbalanced, (rest is borin’)
Tickets issued, tore pyjamas, flubbed a contest (won a llama)
Girl called Mary said I tarried, stayed apart but should’ve married
Jimmy veered when backin’ up and cat was flattened; blood I’m moppin'

Life is a crock and it brings me no jollies
Leaves me spurned and un-prouder, dud my Maker sold me
Life is a crock by the way it controls me
And it sent me insane so; existence just a folly

Christmas present, pogo stick an’ back got crocked, need walkin’ stick an’
Phone’s a roamin’, high taxation, bent ‘it’ during masturbation
Harley riders threats are bolder, Rolling Stones keep gettin’ older
Got cirrhosis of the liver, drinking’s how it was delivered
Thunder’s scary, heat was fleeting, rain it poured - got soggy - very
Got hooked on a sightly stripper, was a guy, so locked my zipper
Got no sweat glands, so I swelter, I.R.S. found my tax shelter
Didn’t make those stolen bases, got picked off in open spaces
Mustn’t for-get that I’ll kick it, really suck when playin’ cricket

Life is a crock – I’m afraid it’s so
Life is a crock – I’m afraid it’s so ... true !

Heart jumps as my wife is screamin', gawkin’ at my hidden hosieries
Rhubarb jam and ‘normous okras got mixed in with all my groceries
Grade ‘A’ male, I blew my top, got punched so keen and me got shiner
Trading blows with Ku Klux Klan in stinking crowded sleazy diners
Freezing winter, boiling summers, winds in March and Autumn’s wandered
On vacation spied Osama, bleedin’ shotgun jammed (a bummer)
Missed taxation took my condo, VCR’s stuck on Jane Fonda
Got a tighter honey, funny, fleeced me, took me for my money
Hurricane tore off my gutters, came back ‘round and got my shutters

Life is a crock and it brings me no jollies – no no no
Leaves me spurned and un-prouder, dud my Maker sold me
Life is a crock by the way it controls me
And it sent me insane so; existence just a folly
Listen, I tells ya, it’s playing out wrong
Talkin’, squawkin’ - no one heeds me, running off when I am speaking
Vicious women; Pop’s a junkie; Mary Tyler-Moore is spunky?

(Wanna make it righter...)

Chock-a-block full of humour and irony. Very clever :)

A marvelous job with a song I've wanted to parody for a long time. TMGLTM.

Incredible. M&P, you deserve a medal...lots of people have remodeled the Major General, snorted 88 Lines and restarted The Fire, but I don't think anyone one has rolled over Life is A Rock until now, and so well done. I bow to your skills! 55freeakin'5.

Even I've never had the rocks to try this one. So let me roll you a five.

I, too, always wondered if anyone would tackle this one. A tour de force of clever matches. Great stuff.

Fantastically crafted hummer of a humor juggernaut here... and how did you know that 64KBpS was just right for my low bit-rate brain!

Thanks so much everyone! :-) Agri, We weren't the first (regretfully) - someone else did the OS a few years back and did a pretty good job too.

I never heard TOS until d/l it from your site. Wow, this may be the best M&P parody I've read. Jammed full of great lines, too many to mention. 555+

I double dare you to record this, hobbits! Love, love, loved it. I was unfamiliar with the OS until now; kind of a cross between Barenaked Ladies "One Week" and "I've Been Everywhere"...and you nailed it bigtime. 555+

Record it ? Kristof ? I can barely say it at that speed, let alone attempt singing it !!!

Amazing - especially with the syllable matching - just chocked full of chuckles! 555!

Leo - thanks for looking at this - hope you are quite inspired now. I still think this song ought to be in the big 7.
Leough - November 04, 2012 - Report this comment
I'm just about done with this one - should be up on Monday. Did you see my response (and my counter-challenge) to your challenge?

I noticed that you commented on my latest two parodies, but did not vote. I was wondering if that was just an oversight or whether you were sending me some kind of subtle message.

As far as the Big7 is concerned, I've read a lot postings on the message board debating what should or shouldn't be on the list. It makes no difference to me. If they added new ones that I hadn't done, I'd just regain my medal by doing them.

Who came up - Mary Tyler - Moore is spunky ?
Merry - November 05, 2012 - Report this comment
Dave - I think that was me, because that line from the show always stayed in my mind. I didn't even watch MTM regularly, but I must have caught that episode and it stayed with me... ;)
