"Vote Me! For UKIP"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

To anyone reading the newspapers over here, it has become very obvious that UKIP will let any old riffraff stand as one of their candidates. So I figured this particular Riff Raff would be ideal..
It's appalling - all this PC
Madness, in the Daily Mail
But listen, dopey: not for very much longer
I've got a plan that can't fail

I'm a member, standing for UKIP
Drinking to the UK
All you fruitcakes and loonies
Not-so-closet racists:
Vote Me! for UKIP in May
Vote Me! for UKIP in May

It's not a jump to the left
One giant leap to the right
If you vote for the 'Kips
We'll close the borders tight
But it's the public trust
That we are trying to gain
Vote Me! for UKIP in May
Vote Me! for UKIP in May

We're not arty in our fantasy party
And not smarty, no not at all
Now that I've got your attention
What is your voting intention?
Ha! Deluded.. like 'em all
But a bit of a mind flip
You'll be joining the UKIP
Reversing the pervasive shame:
European castration
Of what was our great nation
Vote Me! for UKIP in May

It's not a jump to the left
It's a goose-step to the right
If you vote for the 'Kips
We'll have a plebescite
But it's the public trust
That we are failing to gain
Vote Me! for UKIP in May
Vote Me! for UKIP in May

People walking down the street, will you vote for me?
As an immigrant-hating Europhobe MP
If I'm elected, here's what I'll do:
Get out of Europe, stop HS2
Don't you feel: time for a change
We win, things'll never be the same
Vote Me! for UKIP in May

Well, Phil, in the antipodes we do not have the UKIP, we have our own crazies. However, I do not need to know who UKIP are because your parody paints the picture perfectly. I particularly liked "And not smarty, no not at all" and "European castration, Of what was our great nation" (the words for last bit, not the intention).

Clever kybosh on Harry neo-Connick, Jr, Phil—your choice of this frenetic-n-verbose OS max'd opportunities to showcase your 'erudite roast-master' bent! Favorite couplet was your 'goose-step to the right/plebescite (who thinks of that?!)

I hardly even understand US politics, so you can imagine how little I can relate to the UK variety. Nonetheless, your parody and a quick trip to Wikipedia at least got me started on the path to understanding. Well done!

Are you trying to say your politicos are a bunch of riff-raff? I could see them doing the dance just like from the play.

:-) Thanks, all

TJC - I did consider removing the "goose-step to the right" as it's a bit OTT (no, I don't think that the fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists are fascist.. though some get pretty close), but couldn't resist keeping it in for one iteration. Also made me realize I spelt plebiscite wrong. Oops.

Leough - UKIP are a new party on the bloc, pretending to be the "not from the establishment" party, yet almost completely made up of people who've left mainly the Conservative party. They've got big faster than they could really cope with, so their quality control has been largely based around kicking people out after they've said something extreme: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2013/sep/20/ukip-biggest-gaffes

Timmy - not all of 'em. But there are a much, much higher proportion in UKIP.

I don't know a thing about British politics, but after reading this I am hip to your scrip to nip the KIP.
