The Lyrics

I am just a seeker and the answers, I am told
Are stored somewhere in Poughkeepsie
In an old, old woman's attic with her antique best
Her cedar chest
And you open it and see a book
And want to see the rest
mmmmm

When we got flung onto this road of life
We're hitchhikers, one and all
And we ramble down the highway
With the hope of finding something that will make some sense
Gals and gents
And we waste alot of precious time, just
Building our defense
Alot of time just building our defense

Life life life, life life life life life life life
Life life life, life life life life life life life
life life life life life

And we sometimes welcome fantasy
Little smoke and mirrors stuff
And the hours we fritter
Just a dream that we engage in to amuse our minds
We look behind
There are times when it is so lonesome
That it all seems a crime

Life life life life life life life life life life
Life life life life life life life life life life
Life life life life life

Now I'm searching through this antique trunk
And wishing I could find
I could find
Just some remnant that would tell me
What I'm doing here
What's it for
Are we home?

In my musings stand the seekers
And some seem to have it made
Oh but everyone's a leaper
Of every time we dodge another bullet and we cry out
As we crawl and crawl and crawl
We are living, we are living
But I ask you is that all

Life life life life life life life life life life
Life life life life life life life life life life
Life life life life life

Don't get the "Poughkeepsie" refererence, but it cracked me up. Extra credit for using this burg in a parody.

So it was only me who was expecting this to be about Harry Potter ;-) Beautiful, Royce - does this mean Poughkeepsie is a real place?
Royce Miller - February 08, 2006 - Report this comment
Phil, Poughkeepsie is in New York state on the Hudson River. Sometimes you get a name in your head, like this one, and you go from there---at least that's kind of what I did with this. Thank you each one.

Am eagerly awaiting "Found". Some folks say the search is all about finding your mate so take it from The Pomfret, say only nice things because he/she will read them later. Haunting, haunting, haunting.

Pom----wherever have you been? I don't think I, personally, buy the soul mate thing, maybe because it's too commercialized now. But I really do think there are many seekers asking what life's about.

Have you ever picked your feet in Poughkeepsie?

Anomalously philosophical -- refreshing. 555

Gene, congrats for making the French connection to Poughkeepsie!
