The Lyrics

I must use a sure ploy
Knew my eyes were omen cold
I must give up my persistence to a posit full of mumbles
They are nemesis.
All lies and jest
Irony - yes, they hear what they want and laugh at all the rest.
Hmmm....

Lest I 'pear I don't give a damn, you see,
'Twas no chore to use a ploy.
Midst the company of dangers,
In the riots I have known here, gave a shunning glare.
Give a show...
Speak your answers somewhat shorter,
And you laugh a little mo'.
Lookin' at the faces,
Seein' if they know.

Eyes they lie - eyes la la la la they lie
Eyes they lie - eyes la la la la they lie - la la la they lie

Masking all my unplanned edges
I am looking at that slob.
But some wit was offered
Just a play on words and the leaven so continues.
I am aware
There were crimes to which I might succumb.
I look and I still I dare.
La la la...

Eyes they lie - eyes la la la la they lie
Eyes they lie - eyes la la la la they lie - la la la they lie

Then I'm going where I'm told to go
So willing I would fawn.
It's some home!
Where "due-to-me-pity" winners,
Aren't leading me
Needing me! I do roam.

He does sneering, I'm the mocker
And a fighter I've been made.
And I bury all the blinders
Of ev'ry shove that got her down,
And cuffed her till she hid out.
In her anger placed that blame,
I am grieving, yes I'm grieving.
But this fighter still remains.
Hm..

Eyes they lie - eyes la la la la they lie
Eyes they lie - eyes la la la la they lie - la la la they lie

Eyes they lie - eyes la la la la they lie
Eyes they lie - eyes la la la la they lie - la la la they lie

Why do you resist the exquisite call of your more unrefined, sea-going inner-self, Sir Robinson? It is only when I suffer from these attacks of graceful linguistic lucidity, such as that which I am experiencing at this very moment, that my own inner pirate fails to-----aaaaaaaAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! YO-HO, I BE BACK TO ME OLD SELF AGAIN, MATEY !!! ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!

What Alvin said. You are truely the word master of Amiright. How you always turn the prose to poetry is always amazing to me. Keep on writin' this stuff - it is so priceless. You have made my day once again, Pat.

SOTM--I'm with Tim...a bit confused...but that may be because it's way past my bed time and I am compelled to read all of these before my time runs out! I can't fully say that I know what or who this song is about...but, I'm a Mocker myself...so, I have to at least give you credit for a great title...; )

(ABC05) I finally know TOS well now. 555 here, though the version I have has roughly 5 choruses of "Lie lie lie..." at the end. Does everyone shorten that or do I have some extended version of the song (it's the Greatest Hits vinyl I believe)?
Adagio - September 07, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks, Red Ant! I got my copy off internet lyrics. Sometimes those even vary, according to how well they know the individual songs. Sometimes I use both the actual songs and then check it with lyrics I find on the net, because that's the version people will expect. The actual song is very helpful in deciding how individual words are sung....where they put the emphasis.

ABC--still a little lost...(but pacing is nice)...once again a little tired...(but that's to be expected on a Saturday night)...and still guilty of being a Mocker myself...(and I'm afraid that's never going to change)...nice work, Adagio...; )
