The Lyrics

“Family Plot” (1976). Hitchcock’s last film, though not near the top of the list, is amusing and enjoyable. Music by John Williams—not the same John being an actor in “Paradine Case,” “Dial ‘M’,” “To Catch a Thief.”

It’s a Family
Plot, a word twister that’s spelled P
U N. . .last from the
Director who’s the suspense king.

But this flick for me could be better
(Last one from the guy)
Guy had stayed out of studio fetters,
His reputation high.
All—almost—of his flicks are really great
Not all, but most
You can state the from his record
In the UK or those on the West Coast.

Back to “Family.”
I wish that he’d stopped at “Frenzy,”
Much better for me
Was that film from the suspense king.

Grifting is fun in Hitch’s last one. . .
Folks getting snared by a fake psychic.[1]
High guy she works with is a loser,[2]
Her lowbrow sidekick.
He, oh he is grossly dressed
In “Marnie,” he too played a fool.
Hitch would reuse actors in his crews
Such as the blonde
Hitched to a family with jewels.

Hitch’s family
In many credits you can see.
Hitch’s family
Wrote screenplays and did some acting.[3]

[1]Blanche Tyler, as played by Barbara Harris
[2]George Lumley, as played by Bruce Dern, who had a bit part in “Marnie”
[3]His wife, Alma Reville, did continuity in many films and co-wrote some screenplays; his daughter Pat had roles in “Psycho” and “Strangers on a Train,” and drives a car, standing in for Jane Wyman in “Stage Fright.”

JAB - Not a bad film. Keep in mind that Verdi's last opera Falstaff was the only comedy he ever wrote. Nice job again. ;D
