"Wish I Weren't Batman"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Another Moody Blues OS...And once again I delve into the "Caped Crusader's" personal dilemma...I mean, wouldn't it get OLD after awhile? Always having to be on guard and vigilant - ready to protect, nay, SAVE, "Gotham City'?
Wish I weren't Batman
it's gotten real old
Hanging with Robin
I feel like an assh*le

These days I'm feeling "dissed'
Gig's becoming a bore
"Save Gotham City?"
Thankless task is a "snore"

Robin, my "ward"
making me sore
What is he here for?

Lazy-assed people
they still do depend
on me for protection
sitting on their rear ends

Flash that "Bat" signal
High up in the night sky
it has occurred to me
That they don't even try

I think that's screwed
What's with that, dude?
Always must save you
No more; Now I'm through

[Instrumental break]
[during instrumental break]
{Those folks in Gotham City}
{Can go kiss my Bat-Ass}
{I'm tired of always bailing}
{out their lame ass}
{Why don't they all just}
{call the cops?}
{All this "Bat Bull-Sh*t"}
{some day has to stop}
{It must stop soon!}
{Yes, that is true}
{Know it must stop soon!}

Tights and that mask, man
and that stupid batpole
Now make me feel like
A real foolish assh*le

There there's my "ward", Robin
Shouldn't he "Get a Life"?
"Boy Wonder" - always here
I would prefer a wife

This makes me blue
need him to move
Dork ; doesn't take clues
He doesn't take clues

Hate to be rude
this may seem crude
"Robin, you must move
Go now, you must move...Dude...
{OUT!!}
{Out!}
{Out!}"

Maybe there's something really refreshing and rejuvenating with bat-sleep and/or bat-apathy? In the interest of pop culture lore and science I suggest that you try to sleep hanging upside down from the ceiling tonight and then come back with a rapport tomorrow!

Peter - Would that be pronounced "bata-pathy"? or "bat-apathy"? I like the first one better...I think sleeping like that might drive me more bats than I already am...lol...Thanks!

'Robin, my "ward"' - good. Five bats in your belfry.
"wife"? Always wondered about their relationship; some comedy show had "Ace and Gary (AG): The Ambiguously Gay Duo". can't remember which show.

Paul, good parody, BUT you left off the all-important spoken part....that's not an option, it's part of the song. Pacing iffy in spots. 4-5-4

TT: SNL.

alvin - yeah, mopey dude...agrimorfee - nice short-hand paraphrasing of my piece - Tommy T...yeah, I've got another "Batman" lament around here somewhere...oh, yeah...Jethro Tull's "Fat Man"...is something like "Don't Want To Be That Batman"...it deals with his relationship with "ward Robin" a bit, too...lol...Pat...disagree with you and here's why: The OS versions I have...BOTH OF THEM (I bought another "Moody Blues: Greatest Hits" type CD this weekend) do NOT have that spoken section, so they are NOT part of the piece I was parodying...I KNOW there is a spoken part after the sung portion, but it is not necessarily part of the song...at least not in the estimation of those putting together the Moody's re-packaged works...I don't think I should have been 'dinged' for that...the words and music were not available to me...and I really don't consider them necessarily relevant to the rest of the song, either...of course, I've never listened to "Nights" from the aspect of taking it very seriously. Honestly, I never liked it when I was younger...it's 'alright' to me now, but just too draggy for it to be something I'd listen to just for enjoyment. Anyway, I protest, I rant, I get over it...lol...

Agrimorfee: Thought so, wasn't sure; thanks.

555 Of all superheroes Batman WOULD be the one to suffer a burn-out first, because he doesn't have any superpowers. So if Robin fails him, Batman only has himself to blame for not training him well. Robin's uselessness shouldn't get too blown out of proportion (no offence, Jason Todd...) I didn't know this song had a spoken part, I guess they cut it out in the version that airs on the radio stations I listen to.
Agrimorfee - April 04, 2006 - Report this comment
Most classic rock stations do play the album version of the song, which includes the poetry and the final orchestral flourish. Most Amirighteans (would that be our proper appellation? :) ) do parody the entire song. I can forgive Paul on this.
Paul Robinson - April 05, 2006 - Report this comment
YAD...hey, by now "Robin" would be, what, 60-something years old...or more...that's a little old to still be sniffing up around the tail-end of somebody else's cape...Agrimorfee...well, I don't listen to any radio anymore...except morning traffic reports before I start my drive to work...on BOTH of the Moody Blues CD's that I recently bought the spoken stuff is not included...nor was it included on the lyrics sites I checked...IF it had been on either of the recorded versions I would have taken the trouble to TRANSCRIBE it so that I could include replacement lyrics for them...I have done that on MANY occasions. But I don't write lyrics for parts that cannot be seen or heard by me...I just don't...call me crazy...at any rate, on this particular piece I never felt the poetry part really worked anyway...(yeah, I know I'm asking for trouble with that statement), BUT, I WOULDA done 'em anyway if they had been in the stupid recording...I SHOULDA mentioned it up in the "Top Comments"...look how much time and finger movement I woulda saved myself and some other folks...lol...Seriously, thanks for input and info everybody...feel free to put your own spoken parts in after you read my piece...from what I remember of the OS spoken parts you will all be snoring or sleeping before you finish...did I mention I NEVER CARED for that part of the OS? LOL...'bye...

Oops...I keep forgetting the 'lol' and 'j/k'. Paul.
Paul Robinson - April 06, 2006 - Report this comment
LucidLupin...Thanks! Adagio - Yeah, it's amazing how that keeps happening to me, too. Hey, maybe someday I'll listen to those spoken so I can determine just how really boring they are...who knows, maybe in my dotage they will seem to mean something...I think that last time I actually HEARD them was about 1975...and I stopped paying attention as soon as the poetry started ~ ~ ~
