The Lyrics

Following Patrick's lead, here is my parody penance for my involvement in the "FitzGerald Follies". The song "Heartbreaker" by the Stones is one of the all time great rock lamentations, so it's a good choice to commemorate the FitzGerald incident
The Old Witch on the Gitchee Gumee
She chased an ore ship filled with tac
In a place of hurricane intensity
She caused FitzGerald's keel to crack

Hullbreaker! With your fearsome force
You went and broke that ship apart
You hullbreaker! With your early gales
I wanna tear that witch apart

A ten year old girl in a cathedral
You stole the father from her arms
She cried when the bell tolled for her daddy
They thought FitzGerald had a chance .. slim chance

Hullbreaker! Heartbreaker!
You stuck a dagger in her heart
Hullbreaker! Orphan maker!
You sucked the joy right from her heart

Oh yeah, oh yeah
You went and tore that world apart
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Forever will their lives be scarred

Hullbreaker! Lifetaker!
You stopped the beating of their hearts
Hullbreaker! Widow maker!
You went and tore those mates
You went and tore those mates
Forever will those mates be torn apart

Hullbreaker! Hullbreaker
I wanna curse that witches heart ...

Cheap rip-off of Patrick's theme. Not cool.

Not familiar with the original song. I'll have to look it up. It's not my theme, anyone is free to use it. Good reference to child who lost her father. This must have been common within this particular tragedy.

Now I'm all confused. Who to believe? The sock puppet who presumes to speak for Patrick or Patrick himself. "Heartbreaker" is on the same album as "Angie", Patrick; came out in early 1974 .. The stanza about the ten year old girl tracks the line in the OS -- A ten year old girl in a street corner, She stuck a needle in her arm .. She died in the dirt of an alleyway, Her mother said she had no chance

Yes, I love Goat's Head Soup -- and the Stones album wasn't bad either haha. Seriously, a great original song to do this to, and good job on it; clever matches throughout. And yes, I know I don't have to tell you to ignore you-know-who because he's a you-know-what. Anyway, everyone knows Pacholek is our resident TWOTEF expert and he doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

Didn't listen to much Stones music. I went to youtube. Grim OS. Fits the theme. I presume a lot of young children lost fathers or grandfathers when the Edmund Fitzgerald sank. So this song came out in 1974. Sounds like things were much the same then as now. We're still fighting the same fights with the same people over the same tragedies.
