Song Parodies -> "Red Drippy Nose"

Original Song Title:

"Sweet Gypsy Rose"

Original Performer:

Tony Orlando & Dawn

Parody Song Title:

"Red Drippy Nose"

Parody Written by:

Andria

The Lyrics

A parody about allergies and the common cold.
I was very happy
Well at least I thought I was
Can't somebody tell me
What I’ve got into
Ragweed, Scotch Broom, or Goldenrod
And I am allergic so
Who'd believe she'd end up
With a huge mucus flow?

Say, can anybody cure my
Red Drippy Nose?
It is normal when there is no pollen in air
Now out comes from her nostrils
A snotty riv-aire
Say, can anybody cure her
Red Drippy Nose?

They all know when Andria’s been walkin’
In heavy rain
That powerful deluge
Fit for old man Noah
Whoah, here she comes a-sneezin’
And her nose, she blows
Say, has anybody seen her
Red Drippy Nose?

Whoa, baby, baby,
Those allergies
Say, I hate ‘em all
And every day, I take the Zyrtec®

My nose, one night snot doesn’t flow
And sneezing goes away
That's the day you wake up
And I find my sickness, it did go
So let's say goodbye to drippin’
Farewell, common cold
Say, does anybody miss my
Red Drippy Nose

INSTRUMENTAL BRIDGE

I took those pills from my cabinet
No spray up my schnoz
Say, has anybody got it
Now you know just what I mean by
Has anybody got a Red Drippy Nose?

Funny one, Andria, and very timely for the allergy season. Try Vicks formula 555.

Sniffling with joy! Snot a problem! I also have trouble with allergies during springtime. Here's 5 Benadryls, 5 Kleenex, and 5 nasal sprays to treat your "red drippy nose"!

Thank you, Christie. I am (or should I say my sinuses and my nose are?) currently fighting a battle with ragweed, goldenrod and cottonwood pollen, as well as the "cotton" that gave cottonwood trees their name, and am recuperating from a nasty cold that I initially thought was the swine flu.

Note the date of comment. I'm writing a parody on this same subject, but I didn't read your parody until today - honestly. Good play on words.

Thanks, 2Eagle. I can see that we have a similar writing style and sense of humor to some degree, judging from what I've seen of your parodies and comments. I'll watch for your parody, and I'll be sure to comment and vote.

Abbott - Walt is spinning in his grave over this one. You did well to get as many Disney characters into the parody and in a good way. Very well written. One question has always bothered me. A lot of people are afraid of mice who are tiny and basically harmless to the human person, but Mickey Mouse stands head and shoulders over most people and they have no fear of him. =;-) Disney parodies are always an eye catcher. Nice write.

Andria - Great title switch. The parody is funny enough, but it snot funny to have the symptoms that you write about. Well done, gotta run and blow my nose, I think I caught something from this parody, but that is a good thing.

Being sick isn't funny but for some reason everybody including Weird Al has done a parody about it (That must mean in some sick and twisted way being sick must be funny!)

I don't know, It was alright, I don't think you hit all the rhymes, but overall its pretty good. . .pacing was fantastic

(ABC5) Not absolutely fantastic, but still a pretty good parody for a topic that does get hit a lot (though I can only think of one other at the moment - Spaff's "God Bless You" - but my memory can get pretty fuzzy). Worth a 555 and a box of tissues.
