The Lyrics

For those people who don't know Cockney rhyming slang, the Khyber Pass runs from Pakistan to Afghanistan, across the Hindu Kush. Honest.
Where can you find pleasure
Up where air is fresher
Heading North from Pakistan
Where the English gentry
Practised rear entry
Up into Afghanistan

Big hills will amaze ya
Crossing over Asia
If you think you need a push
Up the Himalaya
'Cause you're nearly theyer
Entering the Hindu Kush

Up the Khyber
It is quite a carry-on
Up the Khyber
Tell me, where's that gerbil gone?
Up the Khyber
Come on now, don't it sound like fun
Up the Khyber,
Now the party has begun (Up the Khyber)

Up the Khyber
You can see who's coming fast
Up the Khyber
And don't care who's coming last
Up the Khyber
Coming up the Khyber Pass
Up the Khyber, (Up the Khyber), Up the Khyber (Up the Khyber)

Time to push, time to push
Time to push up the Hindu Kush

If you're at the frontier
Want to try a stunt here
Blowing hard, it's windier
So when you return, you're
Making sure you earn your
Back passage to Ind-i-a

Sure folks there ain't dreamin'
Just of shootin' seamen
'Cause there ain't no boats around
Insects they will bug ya
Snakes may bite and drug ya
Coming over built-up ground

Up the Khyber
Yes, if your visa will allow
Up the Khyber
Then I suggest you head there now
Up the Khyber
'Cause I'm sure you'd like to plough
Up the Khyber,
'Cause you'll take it and say WOW (Up the Khyber)

Up the Khyber
'Cause it's very sparsely manned
Up the Khyber
Come on and join your fellow man
Up the Khyber
Come on people, and make a stand
Up the Khyber, (Up the Khyber), Up the Khyber (Up the Khyber)

Time to push, time to push
Time to push up the Hindu Kush

(Who me?)

Time to push, time to push
Time to push up the Hindu Kush

(But, but but I'm afraid of heights)
(Hey, hey look Man, I get real sick even watchin' it on TV!)

Time to push
(Oh my goodness gracious me)
Time to push
(What am I gonna do on an elephant?)

Time to push, time to push
Up the Khyber

Up the Khyber
It is quite a carry-on
Up the Khyber
Oh, where HAS that gerbil gone?
Up the Khyber
Come on now, tell me was that fun?
Up the Khyber, Up the Khyber
Never travel second class
Up the Khyber
Coming up the Khyber Pass
Up the Khyber
{fade}

I love the "singular" link you provided Phil. Much good information about the Kyber Pass. =) (the parody was good as well!)

I think the gerbil is hiding with OBL. The information in your link raises some questions when it indicates that the pass is only 3 meters wide at its narrowest point, but today two highways and a railroad run along the Khyber Pass (tunnels?). Anyway, well done, Phil.

Thanks, RA & JJ... and I definitely wouldn't want two highways and a railroad up the Khyber ;-)
