The Lyrics

*IPO (initial public offering); RTO (return on investment)
Cisco Slid

When Cisco slid, I was standing in line
To mount the ledge and then do a swan dive.
He'd cooked the books—the honcho was a swine.
Stock took a dive and went down a full nine.

At least it wasn't an IPO* scam.
Nonetheless, my RTO*—less ten grand.
I'd beat my broker, but he's on the lam
He's coked up, so he and his big mouth ran.

My in-laws told me that I should go short,
Though not in writing, or I'd face a tort.
I wish the law would take NASDAQ to court.
This ledge is so high, I can see the port.

I'm standing here, getting ready to keel
Over—first, I think I'll have a last meal.
On second thought, this jump has no appeal.
I'll get an executive job and steal.

My Cisco bid—gone short since '99.
[Repeat and fade]

If you're going
To scan grand Cisco
To see if there's
Some dollars waiting there
Don't invest
In sad crap Cisco
Greater fools
Won't save your derriere

Nice one, JB - and fine additonal accompanyment by JD's metered comment as well.

Thanks, Paul; JD--for the votes and the rhyme.

You're welcome, JB. It's a mini-parody of Scott McKenzie's flower-power hippy classic "If You're Going To San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair)".

JD, so it is. I saw Scott in an earlier incarnation--with a group called The Journeymen.
