The Lyrics

Baby, I never hauled you
In the truck, here beside me
You weighed six ninety seven
Hard to drive, cause you would hide me
Little things like this, they made you mad
Don't know why you'd cuss and whine
You were Always On Behind
You were Always On Behind

Baby, I couldn't hold you
To express the love I feel
Hell, I tried...and I told you
I'd need arms like Shaq O'Neill !

When it rained, well you had the tarp
The hogs didn't seem to mind
You were Always On Behind
You were Always On Behind

Tell me, Almie, that our big love hasn't died
Come back, come home,
And I'll buy that double wide,
Buy that double wide..

Little things like rides, they made you mad
Don't know why you'd cuss and whine,
You were Always On Behind
You were Always On Behind
You were Always..... On..... Behind...

Speaking as a decade police officer, I'll tell you that this song is from the 80's. Speaking as myself, I thought this was a really great parody, and I enjoyed it. So I'm going to vote 5,5,5.

Ten-Four! Haul away some fives, good buddy, and watch out for Smokey, he's takin' pictures 'bout a mile past the off-ramp.

PLS; thanks for vote...and if it's neccesary for technicalities to be this pin point accurate..the song was written by Mark James, Wayne Carson Thompson, and John Christopher...recorded by Elvis in 1972. On an album by Brenda Lee in 1973..and you are right about the "80's" for Willie's version, which came out in 1982.

Mark James wrote it for Elvis. He also wrote "Suspicious Minds" and "Moody Blue." He also did "Hooked On a Feeling," "The Eyes of a New York Woman" and "Everybody Loves a Rain Song" for B.J. Thomas, "One Hell of a Woman" for Mac Davis, and "It's Only Love" for Waylon Jennings & Jessi Colter (Mrs. Jennings).

Loved it. High 5's for the hog/tarp line alone. Don't know if even Shaq could haul this one.
