"Welcome Back the Cold War"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Welcome back the Cold War—
it’s feeling a bit icy.
I really hope that I could be wrong,
but the border violations
can engender perturbations,
and I’m starting to think of Major Kong.*
Welcome back the Cold War.
Woe-oe-oe-oe.

It’s beyond a shakedown
by Putin and tin-thug crew.
On his pate’s perched a latter-day Czar crown.
He hungers for the empire,
stunned, cross to watch it expire.
Post-Ukraine, what salvo will he next fire?
Yeah, welcome back the Cold War.

Welcome back the Cold War—
it’s feeling a bit dicey.
Putin rules over a drunken throng.
He hungers for lost empire,
hung on—now has annex fire.
The bastard simply won’t relent, tire.

Welcome back the Cold War: II, II, II. . . .

*Major “King” Kong, Slim Pickens’ character in “Dr. Strangelove”

Starts out matching the pace exactly, but loses a little bit as the song goes on. It's mildly funny, but it didn't make me giggle at all, really. You're good with words, though, so maybe it's just the subject matter that's a little dull. Good choice of song to parody, you've had enough to work with, and you did a pretty good job. It just could have been funnier.
