The Lyrics

Having your own clone: why? I ponder this simple question to the tune of the deepest voiced lady I've known besides my sister.
When you've got tons of work to do
Like rooms to dust and then vacuum
And your back hurts
And you've no friends, you're alone
Don't you sometimes
Wish that you had a friendly clone?

They'll do your deeds and won't complain
Want a coffee, they'll have it made
When you're sick, love to have one at hand
Who'll wash your really dirty clothes
Don't you sometimes
Wish you had a helpful clone?

All kinds of stuff like:
Kill all the flies in the house
Wear in all your brand new shoes
Tell the neighbours to shut up
When they're partyin' 'till half-past two

Play games like Halo ev'ry night
(Live or not, nice to have a backup)
Trade Pokemon, catch 'em all, right
(Had Turtwig, now Chimchar and Piplup)
Buy you beer, when you've gone and bruised your toes
Don't you sometimes
Wish you had a handy clone?
Tell me, tell me, wouldn't you want a helpful clone?

There to help ya
Uses are near infinite
Pick you up if you fall down
Get help if you're stung by bugs
As they know your thoughts
Won't bring you down

Rock, paper, scissors, pass the time
(Never win, never lose however)
It's always a draw, they share your mind
(Kinda weird, it's a real mind-bender)
But that is fine, they'll know your tastes, your cons and pros
Don't you sometimes
Wish that you had a friendly clone?

Tell me, tell me, wouldn't you want a handy clone?
(If you had a clone, you won't be bored stupid)
Don't you sometimes
Wish you had a helpful clone?
(If you had a clone, they'll help you when you're sick)

Tell me, tell me, wouldn't you want a friendly clone?
(If you had a clone, they'll make you a sandwich)
Don't you sometimes
Wish you had a handy clone?
(If you had a clone, they'll give you a massage)

Tell me, tell me, wouldn't you want a helpful clone?
Seriously though, my sister has an impressive vocal range. I think that's the term for being able to go really high and low.

So handy to have a clone. You have made all the right sales pitches for advancing this futuristic science. I always wished I could have a clone to go to the bathroom for me so I wouldn't have to get off the couch in the middle of a TV show.

Singing these words along to the original song is officially THE most fun I've had in a long time! I absolutely loved this. Loads of brilliant subs, pacing was spot-on and the whole concept was hilarious. 555 for sure.

BTW, I like this parody...clones not so much. My problem with clones is that they lack originality. Once you've seen one clone, you've seen them all. ;D

Good job, COP, well matched and subbed. I gave 544 'cause both the OS and the subject matter just didn't do much for me.

I didn't even notice that you did a song about cloning right now. I did my own take on cloning recent to a Semisonic song: http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/semisonic13.shtml This one was on a totally different scale because yours isn't about a mad scientists making clones in order to take over the world.

This was twoderful! But I think the problem would be that the clone would want ME to do all the dirty work.

Best parody couplet ever:: "Play games like Halo ev'ry night/(Live or not, nice to have a backup)/ Trade Pokemon, catch 'em all, right/ (Had Turtwig, now Chimchar and Piplup)"

As long your clone doesn't have your thoughts. Also there's the risk of identity theft! YIKES!!!
