The Lyrics

A revision of a parody from last year. For Decathlon.
I thought I won in less than an hour
That's really big-headed, that was a mistake
Don't know how good you are until you're gone
And I found out with Bowser's hot flames

I was acting as if nothing could ever stop me
Never ever knowing that Ganon would stop me there
And then I was done, everything was wrong
And now I'm pulling out my hair

Now me defeating you
Takes a lot of practice to do
I try to take them on
But I don't want to
You defeating me
Is all a big mistake
Instead of gaining victory
The controller's 'bout to break!
I just cannot beat you, maybe
In this hard video game

I used some cheat codes, I had every reason
No, you can't blame me for putting them in
I'm here at this battle, but couldn't go on
Now that Sepiroth's got me killed

After all of these years
I'm still trying to beat you
Doing much better but long before this game's time
But when you arrived, a one-sided fight
And you think that I just won't mind

Now overcoming you
It requires lots of skill, too
I gotta catch 'em all
But I can't pull through
Going without food
For many nights and days
I'm such a gaming nerdy idiot
And I've never went on dates
I just cannot beat you, never
In this hard video game

(Brass solo)

I'm done, Gohan. Just done, Gohan!
I can't go on, just can't go on!
I never won, just never won!

I am almost through
With this rant of gaming blues, too
The tale is true, my friend
I wish it weren't true!
Cause I always lose
My spirit's gonna break
Instead of gaming any easier
I've had all that I can take
I will never beat you

You're a hard video game (You're a hard video game) (Just have not won)
Such a hard video game (Such a hard video game) (Can't beat Gohan)
I will never beat you!
Failed this hard video game
(Failed this hard video game) (I have not won)
Never beat none of my games
(Never beat none of my games) (Not even one)
I'm a big disgrace to gaming!

This was a 'game' attempt at revision, and the score came of 555...

I've had my share of hard video games for years. Here's are some experiences I had: The first time I played Street Fighter 2, as soon as I reached Sagat or M. Bison, Sagat kept on Tiger Uppercutting me every time I would be on the air. M. Bison on the other hand kicks way too much and his Psycho Crusher annoys me. In World Heroes 2, Dio was a such a pain in the behind to defeat. I'll show you a YT vid one of these days. I hate it when every time I get close to beating this hard boss, even when he has one speck of life, he comes up with an unexpected attack and kills you. My bro calls them "cheap moves" when it comes to that. In FFX, Seymour at Macalania unleashes his Multi-Spells and kills us instantly. When I fought him again, I only had Yuna and Rikku on the field so I had Rikku Spare Change him. Didn't have time to revive Tidus. Diablo from FFVIII was a hard guardian force to beat so I got game over from him. But that day I was able to defeat him eventually before I left for work (when I had a job). In Kingdom Hearts, Sephiroth kept on unleashing his Sin Harvest and I wasn't very coordinated enough to beat him, even at Lvl 100. So I skipped that event. >( KH2's Sephiroth was a lot easier in spite of the fact that his sword moves from his Masamune is very swift. Well, I've said more than enough. Time for your v/c's. Final Score: 555!!

In Tekken 5, I've never been beaten Jinpachi because of his unblockable fire blast. Everytime I played Art of Fighting against the CPU, there must've been the worst case of SNK Boss Syndrome an SNK Playmore fighting game ever had.

Mark Scotti: Thanks, and great pun!

Christie Marie M: Thanks! Seems like you've had your share of shortcomings, too.

Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (oops, I mean Blessranger): Thanks for the comment! Seems like out of all of AmIRight's authors, I'm one of the few you comment. No offense, of course, it's just that comments from you are VERY RARE. Nothing wrong with that, though. And yes, fighting games can be very tough and cheap AI makes it even tougher.

"Don't know how good you are until you're gone And I found out with Bowser's hot flames" really tickled me. Epic song choice as well. Very well done.

(Dec3) Pretty good parody, there's just nothing particularly spectacular about it. Maybe some more references to particularly hard games would've given it a bit more of a something to it, if that makes sense. Still worthy of a 555, though!

Excellent. Some great use of soung-alikes in here. 'After all of these years, I'm still trying to beat you' was just one that I liked. And I'm a gamer, so I support this completely.

Loved this. I stayed up until almost 1:00 last night with a new DS game I got for my birthday. I still never passed the level I wanted to pass. Arrrgh. =( This was great though!

Missed some of the video game references that were probably caught by others. Overall a good song.

I'm kind of with Jeff here...it's hard to write about video games (or any special pop culture item or activity) in a way that appeals to those unfamiliar or not as interested in it. A bit more over the top humor would have made this more interesting for me. 544

ABC- I've had a run in with a few hard video games, this hit the nail on the head! Great work!

(ABC G & H) Great overall, but a bit over the top for those not into video games, like moi. 5-3-5.

(ABC G/H) Got me back to Street Fighter Alpha 3. What's unfair about it is once you lose to M. Bison, you get a bad ending with credits and don't get any more unlimited chances unlike those general rounds in the game. I cheat by setting options to 1 round and 25 seconds on the timer for a faster game to make it shorter. In spite of how old I am, I still scream and throw tantrums every time I would lose in fighting games. Also in addition to going without food for days and nights, that's my bro when he plays video games, but he's always making an effort to overcome hard video games eventually. However, I have little more patience in VG's than my bro in a way. Another high score of 555! Nicknames I would give to hard video games are either "Kim Possible" or "Impossible like Kim Possible" realizing how impossible it is to tackle a hard and frustrating video game.

Thought I read this before...good job. Wasn't sure if I caught the original or the revision

Ok, Blaze, I have to point out something I just pointed out in Matty's parody . . .coherency. . .using several examples in one parody is fine, but not when you start a story. Yours mentions Bowser and then goes into Ganon, and then Sepiroth and so on. I think you can see where I'm going with this, your opening line is about playing a hard game, and the inclination through the whole thing is that you are playing one game, except that all those characters represent multiple games, and it kinda threw me off. . .on the opposite hand, it was very well paced to a song that seems like the type of dramatic 80s hit that defined the decade, and therefore definitely deserves to be parodied. . .not a bad job Blaze, I did like it, just felt it could have been more consistent, so to speak

(ABC G/H) This was a tough one for me since my video game knowledge has slipped since 1998! I get the gist of the concept, but it would have been more cohesive if there'd been more description of the game itself. Otherwise, nice read, just wish I knew more about the gameplay.
