Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

My nose is runnin' goin' out of my mind,
You brought me stuffing of the wrongest kind
Don't bring me down, no no no no no,
I'll tell you now please
Don't give no feathers to me
Don't bring me down.

I'm stuffing pillows with all kinds of stuff
I'm hoping polystyrene packing's enough
Don't bring me down,no no no no no no no no,
I'll tell you once more
It's feathers that I abhor
Don't bring me down.

Chorus:
Don't bring me down, 'choo!
Don't bring me down, 'choo!
Don't bring me down, 'choo!
Don't bring me down

What happend to those hollow fibre bags
Or my old mattress full of scraps and rags
Don't bring me down,no no no no no,
I'll tell you, you mutt
Just give me anything, but
Don't bring me down.

I got a nosebleed from your damn papoose
How could I know that it was filled with goose
Don't bring me down,no no no no no,
I know that you heard:
No! Nowt that covers a bird
Don't bring me down.

Chorus

You say you want a chair that's full of class
I say it's just a place to park your ass
Don't bring me down,no no no no no no no no,
I'll tell you once more
Just go and sit on the floor
Don't bring me down.

You got me shakin' got me runnin' away
'Cause I can't stand to be near my own duvet
Don't bring me down,no no no no no,
I'll tell you once more
In fact I'll even implore
Don't bring me down.

Seems obvious once you do it.

Very clever word-play here, Phil. 5's...nicely done - OH...I really wanted to avoid saying "I down with this one"...couldn't...

I'm surprised that I didn't see this one either..I like ELO. Good job! 5's

Very funny, Phil. Made me sneeze, though.

Just as long as it's not the parody that gets up your nose, Rod ;-)

I actually used this idea as a cryptic clue in a quiz a while back, but it was only when I had the song playing in the car that I realized how obvious the parody was. Maybe the next one will be along the lines of "Singer, seize the lady immediately" (10,3)

I love a good parody that twists the original song's title! 555, very clever, Philbo.

D'Oh! Hit by the decade police again... you're probably right - I didn't really start listening to Discovery till the mid-80s, but thinking about it, I don't know when it came out, and (atypically) didn't bother to check.

No, I'm not the decade police, but I've noticed they've hit other parodies with incorrect decades, most recently a double submission of a Britney Spears parody that was placed in the sixties section.
Enough about that already. I already voted 5-5-5.

Hey, what happened to the first comment I posted yesterday? >:(

Seems like I missed this one too. Anyway, it was really good to see a parody utilizing the other meaning of the word "down" (as in goose feathers); you did an excellent job with it, so I'm gonna give a perfect score. :)
