"Land Down Under"
The Lyrics
Traveling to the isle of convicts
Charles Adare’s[1] gonna encounter conflicts.
He met a strange lady;[2] she acted nervous. . .
To rationality impervious.
And he asked:
“Why’d I come to the land Down Under?
This could have been a bad blunder.
Just when he’d started to wonder,
He then met Sam[3] who’s the lady’s lover.
Gave Charles bread for a little hustle,
For what you might call a “land rustle.”
It was a legerdemain land switch.
He’d done time for a crime, but now he’s man rich.
And he said:
“I came to the land Down Under
For a serious blunder.
I’ve paid my dues, and now I wonder:
Won’t you come to my house for supper?”
Wife of the man’s in a bombed way;
Charles helps her to dry out, but one day,
The troubles arrive, and there are plenty.
In the end, Sydney of Charles is empty.
To Eire he runs from the land Down Under.
The woman don’t pay for blunder
She had committed. . .torn asunder
With a gun her brother—gave Sam cover.
