The Lyrics

25 May 2012. Peregrin leaves his place of work on a dark, cold and rainy night (remember, this is my winter time). What follows is true in every detail.

Original poncy song on YouTube

A tale, bereaved, a lesson so tough
I’m here, aggrieved, on duff
Slippery tiles, water-waltz under shoe...
I fall – a crack! I’m screwed...

Prone on tiles, ‘cus of gravity
I guess you’d call effing bad luck
Quite incensed I went down
Amiss and I frown
I can't get up on my own

Everyone walks by, ignoring, stake through my heart
They turn and look away
And to my dismay, I have seen leg affray
My fibula crackied in half

A cast for this guy, weeks grating on by
Do not sit in chair! Leg keep in the air!
T.V. (days) a dud
Leg keeps swelling with blood

Bent me an ankle
Bent me an ankle
And how – like, wow

Bent me an ankle
Bent me an ankle
Crutch now, crutch now

DVT did further disappoint
Ultrasound explained the swell
But don't be glum, just because
You could have headed above

Instructions, complied: enraging this guy
But the pain accrued, leg stayed black and blue
Sick of this stuff
Yes, I’ve had quite enough...

Bent me an ankle
Swelling brings cankle
And how – like, wow!

Bent me an ankle
Injury rankles
Crutch now, crutch now

Bent me an ankle
Bent me an ankle
Bored now, like how

Effed up my ankle
Bent me an ankle
And how – like, wow!
Like – OW...
The sharp-eyed or medically inclined would have noticed that an ankle and a fibula and not one and the same. I looked everywhere for a song called "Send Me A Fibula", but, alas, my search was in vein. Probably with the DVT...

May is wintertime for you? Where do you live?

Those tiles are slippery, fool of a Took! Nice tragic relief. Hope you've mended. I see what you mean by 'original poncy song'. Listening to that is not good convalescence.

OS didn't have "ankle", just a close match, "angel".

Dark And Cold And Rainy Night: My Fibula Is Broken

(ok, that last one was pushing it a bit. ;-D )

Loved the "art-ery" of the end of the outro. (Aorta quit now, but one last shot:) Are you sure it wasn't just the DT's? ;-)

Callmelennie: CallmeAussie! LOL

lifeliver: Mended? Well, it was three months ago now and I have just got to the point (if I concentrate) where I can walk without a visible limp. On blood thinners because of DVT, leg still swollen for a while yet. Grrr. As for Real Life: Real Life are a Melbourne-based Australian New Wave/Synthpop band. I think the genre just about explains a lot of things. I consider that I found the first valid use for their song :)

Fibula Clark: Nice puns! The last one may have been a stretch but I liked it most. DT's? I was going home from work. As laid back as Aussies may have a reputation of being, I am not in the habit of wearing dick togs to travel home on the train!!! Ha ha

Falling on the empty street, on the boulevard of broken bones....you broke a bone, you broke a bone.

In the US, "dick togs" sounds like thin, round items made of latex, which are worn --- n/m. ;)

(of cauhse you K that "delirium tremens" was meant.)

Well, I am not in habit of wearing them home either! Yes, DT's understood, although will admit to not having know what it technically stood for!

Ok, Peregrin you're an Aussie (LOL) And if something like that that ever happens to you again, I'll be sure to call you an ambulance. .... That was a good one, BTW

Thank you CML. But do you know the emergency number over here without looking it up? After all, time is of the essence!!!
