"Huh?" is my thought as well. You're saying Ashcroft is a liberal? Because he's the one trying to make us live in the land of big brother with the new 'Patriot Act.' And Dubya helping the economy, as you say in the first line? If he's helping the economy, then why is our economy in the dumpster right now, when it was doing fine before he came into office?
neminem, where does Ashcroft come into any of this? I dont remember reading his name in this...I think the point Michaels trying to make is that the liberals are puting so many restrictions on things, (ie video games, sports, guns, TV..) that its turning into George Orwells "1984", and we are under so many restrictions its like were under Big Brother (if you dont know who Big Brother is, read "1984", my favortie book)....I think thats the point he was making....I highly doubt hes talking about Ashcroft
Point well taken. I have seen the arch-liberals putting lame restrictions on things. It's just that at the moment, my attention is on Ashcroft and his 'Patriot Act' that just passed, which allows legal monitoring of all sorts of communications that ought to remain private, for the purpose of national security. I know his name wasn't mentioned in the parody, that's what was scary about it, because he's the one getting rid of the most civil liberties at the moment, so blaming the democrats for everything (some things, yes, just not everything) is really stupid. And obviously since I was talking about Big Brother, I know what it's from, or I wouldn't have mentioned it. Actually, I haven't read 1984 - really ought to sometime - but Big Brother has become a symbol far beyond the book itself.
yeah, Billy put it in a good way, but I also mention in the parody about Liberals shifting the blame onto us republicans, this is something else that happons a lot!
