Parody Song Title:

"Trail Of Their Tears, Man"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

This is one of those combined parodies, using "Back On The Chain Gang" by the Pretenders with a number that happens to be a bit of a hybrid by itself, "Home On The Range: Cherokee Edition" by Tori Amos - lyrics link to that song: http://leoslyrics.com/listlyrics.php?hid=EmC5LJ0AqfQ%3D Obviously, this is a "Point of View" piece, and no, I am not a Native American.
(Instrumental Intro)

We saw the buffalo roam, oh,oh,oh,oh
and the antelope play, as well
In this place from the past
we can't go back to, no,oh,oh,oh
Doesn't seem like it's right
Can't go back to the range
Not...back to the range, man

Looked to the skies, but saw no clouds, no, oh,oh,oh
Only smog and jet planes that now fill our world
Once in time this whole land it was ours, oh,oh,oh,oh
Jackson stole it from us with all of his lies
Sent us out with just tears
Oh, Trail of our tears, yeah

(Instrumental Break)

The proud Cherokee
were forced from our land by that fool
No one heard our pleas
as we were consigned to our doom
And we died on that cruel trail of tears
Sadness so deep in our hearts
Will we get justice some day?
our future is dark

Once watched the buffalo roam, oh,oh,oh,oh
and the antelope play, as well
We did not see a cloud in the skies, no, oh, oh, oh
and spoke not a discouraging word
Then got put on that Trail
Oh, Trail of our Tears, yeah

(Ohh - Ohh)
(Repeat to FADE)

Great execution, Paul - I think you pulled this one off. 5s.

Nice, reminds me of Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer". Way to romantic a view of the Indians, but a pleasant fantasy.

Wow, well done, Paul. I like it, and I'd like to see more serious and well-written parodies like this one. 5's

Guy, glad you liked it. Mac, well, as I said, it was definintely a "point-of-view" piece. I was originally just going to try the "Traditional" "Home On The Range" here, but it just didn't have any bite to it. Johnny D - thank you! Yeah, I like the idea of doing some serious pieces now and then...gives you something to chew on.

I'd argue that Jackson was even a worse president than Bush due to his treatment of the Native Americans. Great song and a great new spin on the original....

Macphisto - Thanks! Yes, Jackson was a wretched President and he did seriously screw the Native Americans at every opportunity. Glad you like the piece.

This one was good; I missed it the other day. I was going to vote 3 for how funny, since it was kinda serious, but I went ahead and voted 5 in that category because everyone else did.

I, too, thought it was unfunny but gave it 5-5-5 anyway.
