The Lyrics

I don't know if you will remember the pictures from a while back of a laboratory rat which had a human ear grafted to its back... yeah, I thought it was kind of weird, too.
I don't know how it's growing
But, I sure know what I've seen
Something on a rodent
Contains my DNA
And it looks really queer
A rat with a human ear
An ear I grow again
Ear I grow again

Though the surgeon gave an answer,
I didn't understand what it's all for
The cash I've paid them
Nearly all my money's gone...
Now I know what it means
To use a rat to grow bits with my genes

An ear I know won't grow all alone
So onto a rodent's back it has been sown
And soon it will all my very own
But it really looks queer
To see a rat with a human ear

I'm just another ear in need of transplant
'Cause of accidental aurectomy
And when it's sewed on
For the rest of my days,
I will know what it means
To have some rat-affected aural genes

An ear I grow again on a rat
Going round with my ear on its back
Now I ain't sure I want my lughole back
And it preys on my mind
What's that rat doin' with what's mine?

An ear I grow again
Ear I grow again
Ear I grow again
Ear I grow...

And it preys on my mind
Where's that rat been with what's mine?

An ear I know won't grow all alone
So onto a rodent's back it has been sown
And soon it will all my very own
Now I know what it means
To use a rat to grow bits with my genes

An ear I grow again on a rat
Going round with my ear on its back
I ain't sure that I want my lughole back
And it preys on my mind
What's that rat doin' with what's mine?

An ear I grow again
Ear I grow again
Ear I grow again
Ear I grow...
Ear I grow again...

Hmm... I didn't see this turn up - not may other people did either, from the look of it

I once heard about a sci-fi porno flick called "Sex Trek: The Next Penetration," in which Vulcan men's pointed ears grow when they're aroused. I didn't actually see the film -- not to be confused with Johnny D's side project "Debbie Does Deneb 5" -- but I'm guessing it's highly illogical.

I read that it was done as an experiment to transplant to a human or humans who were born without ears or had ears severely damaged. Whatever, it is a great topic for a parody, and this is very well done.

Friends, countrymen, lend me your ears! Well done. Phil...didn't see this on the front page either.

It took ~5 years for the 1st Whitesnake parody to appear here? Worth the wait. 5s Phil.

My initial inclination was to post a comment along the lines of "if the rat gets loose the there will be truth to the old saying about how the walls have ears" but I'll comment on Red Ant observation instead. My theory is that Whitesnake was one of those bands who totally disappeared because they sorta fell between chairs, to heavy for the pop scene, not heavy enough for the metal scene, and nowhere near to fit anything "in" when grunge ruled for a couple of years. Musically they and/or David Coverdale is grossly underrated, there are temposhifts and instrumental details and clever turns far above most bands and even seeming monotonous end choruses often have nice subtle variations (that makes them harder to parody) and last but not least DCs voice is perfect for this kind of music.
