The Lyrics

This is what I thought when Joe Lynn Turner was their singer in the early 90's. I've got nothing against him when he's doing his own music but you'll know what I mean if you've ever heard him trying to sing Burn or any of the Gillan songs. I couldn't believe that he and Ritchie were trying to turn Purple into a pop band, it reminded me of what happened to Rainbow in the early 80's.
His voice don't fit and that is my point of view
What a bad situation but I don't believe they're through
They had something going but they threw it down the pan
Not exactly what they'd planned
He's a ramshackle man
They're in a jam.

He sounds like a joker, no appeal, he ain't got the knack
Wafflin' a sound, clever bet that he'll now get the sack
We said to the singer "What a waste of a band"
But he couldn't give a damn
He's a ramshackle man
They're in a jam.

We sit down thinking 'bout the things they used to do
They started fine then they picked out someone new
Ritchie was at war, that's how it all began
Now they're ruining the band
With a ramshackle man
They're in a jam.

The fans take flight when the boys come out to play
Never felt it more than I feel it right here today
It used to be fresh but now it sounds bland
They do what they can
With a ramshackle man
They're in a jam.
