The Lyrics

February 20th, 2005: A newbie by the name of Red Ant submits his first two parodies, which go over with little fanfare (because they sucked). Undaunted, he continues writing. To make a long story short, here I am now one year later, still writing and better than, uh, last February. ;-)
[intro]

Another churned out song but this one doesn't blow
Take a look at my first you'll see I've really grown
Though not my best, I confess, this was a quick write
To mark the passage of my year on AmIRight

Though some were really horrible,
And others talked of shite
I celebrate my year on the site

I've made the good and bad, there's some greats that you'll find
Oh but that's no sell, they're all swell - they're divine!
Hundreds of parodies in ver-y short ti-ime
In other words, freakin' thousands of rhymes!

While some were really laughable
(With pacing none too tight)
I celebrate my year on the site

[break]

Through Modern Major-Generals*
(But not a "Wreck" in sight)
I celebrate the three sixty five

I'm "Simply Irresistible"*
(well we are what we write!)
I celebrate one year on this site
copyright 2006+ Jack "Red Ant" Fletcher. *I've done both of these 3 times each, but still no Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Maybe Michael Pacholek can throw an idea my way for that song.

555, my first parody submissions were in October 2004, I celebrated by rewriting and submitting my Verse Chorus Verse parody(Anime, Video Games & Nirvana), which was one of 7 parodies I submitted that week. There are some others that I plan to rewrite in the near future(my Drain You, first Mexican Seafood and About A Girl parodies mainly). Very good, well reflected, what are your first parodies called? I'm curious, I want to check them out. =)

Good job Red Ant. Despite your brief antiquity, your a true pioneer of satirement (if that is a real word)555

Congrats on your 1st year! Great song, but I think I spotted one pacing error near the beginning...

Thanks Pat, Johnny D, Step-chan, John, alvin, Joel, TheCoffinRobber, Scrawny Johnny, Rick and Larry.

Step-chan, you can do a date search on my parody author page to find the first 2. The one titled "Loose Ground" is actually a parody of "Brush Away".

TheCoffinRobber: Yes, I did squeeze in one extra syllable in the line "this was a quick write" vs TOS' "and don't ask why" but Billy Joe stretches "why" into two syllables so both lines come out 5 syllables.

Y'know, I just noticed that this is your 220th parody which happens to mirror your one-year anniversary (Feb. 20th). Coincidence? Or Destiny??
Red Ant - February 22, 2006 - Report this comment
Hmm, I don't believe it signifies anything special SJ. Although this was posted on the 21st it was written about 4 am on the 20th (a purely coincidental set of numbers there) for the update that didn't happen. "That Throne" I believe was submitted on Feb 28th (one of 7 I submitted that day-newb mistake there). Although I don't think I'll come even remotely close to 440 by next Feb 20th you never know.

Looking forward to reading your 440th on the 40th of April next year!

BTW: There's no guarantee that it will still be there when you (whoever you are) read this, but I found the original song here:
