Thanks Alvin, John and Pat. Here is roughly where I am stat-wise through parody #201. Making the most appearances is Alice in Chains at 27 songs, followed by 19 from Nirvana, 17 from Metallica (+1 completed album), 14 of The Beatles, 8 Pink Floyd, 7 by Guns N' Roses, 6 each by Simon & Garfunkel and Soundgarden, 5 Faith No More, 5 Traditional, 4 Led Zeppelin and 4 by Robert Palmer. All others are 3 or less.

~51 of my parodies have been first submissions of that song and 4 are first submissions of a band.

Yesterday and Smells Like Teen Spirit have been done 5 times each, followed by 3 each of Would?, Rape Me, The Major-General's Song and Simply Irresistible. About 10 have been done twice. All others have been done once.

Oldest song parodied is The Star Spangled Banner (1814 for lyrics) and newest is several from 2005. Decade most represented is the 90s by far, though after that it is pretty much even for all other decade choices, though 'misc' is last. 90% of the songs I've parodied are male singers, though I'll try to balance that more towards the women in the future.

As for topics they are all over the place though the 'making fun of music' genre clocks in at 21 songs, followed by misheard lyric parodies at 12, tributes in one form or another at 11, and holiday themed parodies at 10. Probably quite a few 'gross' parodies as well.

Alternative/Grunge music accounts for more than a 1/3 of my choices, with hard rock/metal and classics also another solid 1/3 if not more.

Least represented genres are rap, disco and country with just a total of 4 songs, which won't be changing any time soon. Musicals are also under-represented at just 3 songs specific to a movie/musical, though there are roughly 9 that appeared only on a movie soundtrack at first or in a play. I do hope to add more there.

As for individual years, I'm far too lazy to look all of those up though I'd guess from 1990 to 1996 has close to 60 entries. AFAIK I only have one, maybe two songs that are 1950s tunes.

I don't have headphones on me right now, so I'll check this out tommorrow.

DKTOS, so no vote. I just happened to come across your longest comment from reading the "Latest Comments" Page. Nineties may be the decade with the most parodies, but I don't know if that refers to all parodies filed under 90s (i.e., the correct decade may be something else) and/or parodies that should be filed under 90s (i.e., TOS did come out between 1990 and 1999 but it was filed under something else). Also...I think there may be a parodied song on here that was made before 1814: Handel's Hallelujah Chorus (which I think was written in the 1700's). As for the "Traditional" songs, they could be from any century.

Anyways, even though I've never heard TOS, I'm sure this parody's well written. Congratz on 201+.

Thanks Step-chan, Spud and A. Person. AP, a bit of clarification is in order. The 90s is the decade I've most represented, not AmIRight(-ers) at large. The Star Spangled Banner is the oldest song that I've parodied. There are older ones by other writers (Hark! The Herald Angels Sing is from early-mid 1700s) and as you noticed traditionals could be even older.

BTW, 555. I have heard this song before, but had forgotten about it(it's obvious as to the reason why).

I think I may have heard the song only once...but I'm so sick of these crappy Green Day parodies by middle schoolers that I had to 5 it.

Personally, I think Brin Stew is a great song, one that should not be messed with. Numerous Green Day songs should be left alone, either because they suck, or just the opposite. Brain Stew should be left as it is. And leave Green Day alone! They may have their flaws, but as I type this, I'm listening to Holiday, a great song that can be parodied.

Um, well...I like this song, yes, and the parody too. I don't mind ppl making fun of Green Day---that's what the parodies are for!^^

(ABC3) Funny. It shows to go you that the satire can be even be given on the things we admire most. First time I heard the song---that's definitely a "Meh".

(ABC-G) Funny, I don't remember commenting on this 8 months ago though it says otherwise above...after having listened to the OS, this is top-notch. Billie Joe sounds like he's got a mouthful of marbles, and I hate Green Day anyway so this is really great.
