The Lyrics

Ever let a cavity go too long? Or maybe you don't floss often or well enough. Youch! Lyrics and audio links in lower comment section.
(Instrumental Intro)
Ooh....Ooh....Ooh....Ooh....

I woke up in pain this morning
the throb in my tooth was alarming
I didn't floss my teeth like I should

The pain in my head was increasing
No way I could get back to sleep, then
It's 6 AM; I lay here and groan

Now I moan, the pain grows; it is never ending
I'm in bad pain, and I feel like screaming
Then I groan, it hurts so; It's a raging toothache

(Instrumental break)

The dentist acts sorry for me
We both know how often he'd warned me
He think's I'm a fool without a brain

Now here he comes with his plier's
He'll replace my nerves with some wires
I'm numb; he gave me some novocaine

Now I'm glum, feel so dumb, cause I'm comprehending
How much I'll pay on the bill he sends me
Lot's of dough I will blow for this stupid mistake
Caused a raging toothache

He gave me pain pills on prescription
Penicillin for infection
For slight pain said "Take an aspirin", if it hurts after that let me know
you can come on in right away

(Instrumental break)

All that pain was insane I had to have this done
couldn't stand much more
I'd let it go too long

I ignored the warning signs; found out that was not too wise
Caused a painful toothache
Such a foolish mistake
Caused a raging toothache

RNM - Thanks. Hmmm...no, not like the REAL thing would.

Good parody, and this is one of the few Sheryl Crow songs I like....

Macphisto - Thanks, yeah, this is one of her better ones, although I do like a fair amount of her stuff. I recently bought "The Very Best of Sheryl Crow" DVD (it was on sale for under $10), and I really like about, oh, say 60% of it and the rest is not that bad.

Nice work, Paul...and it could easily be my own autobiographical song. This was SO me last Easter! I have a mortal fear of the dentist, though...so I always put it off until it's too late...and then...my experience at the dentist is horrible...which adds to my fear of the dentist...and so the cycle goes. Anyway...excellent job, Mr. Robinson! 5-5-5!

Rick/Alvin/Arwen - Thank you all! Unfortunately this one is a bit biographical for me, too. Here's some free advice that's worth every penny: if you think you're dentist isn't up to par - any doubts at all - he probably isn't. Even if you've gotten to sort of a comfort zone, look into getting a new one; maybe arrange for a visit to get an evaluation of what you current guy is doing. Right now I can say that sticking too long with this last guy is about the only major regret I've really got. Maybe you have a friend or work acquaintance who is satisfied and confident in their dental dude (or dudette/dudess). OH...if this parody isn't enough of a masochistic exercise for you dental-phobics I did another Sheryl Crow song a little while back with a "bad day at the dentist" theme. "Every Tooth Has a Widening Hole" , from, of course, "Every Day Is A Winding Road".

Paul, I'm thinking of recording the basic tracks to "Strong Enough" I have a parody to put to it, but I could send it to you "bare" if you have a way to sing your version. Let me know.

Rick D - Funny you should mention that - I was just trying to figure out a way to do that. I bought a microphone yesterday and got it to work. I need to practice a bit to get the hang of it. I recorded a few parodies into the computer without music. I sang them while listening to the original songs on my CD player. It was a bit "hit or miss". Some songs I sounded ok on, others - P.U. But I didn't sound too bad for the most part on my "Strong Enough" parody, So, yeah, to boil this down, if you can send me a "bare" copy I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Good job, Paul. I missed this one last Friday because my Internet was down. Anyway, 5-5-5.
