Parody Song Title:

"California's Burning Down"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

High and dry, the winds are blowing
San Diego, Malibu, and all
Chaparral is widely growing
Two year drought, so nature heeds it's call
California, lovely place
Now, becomes a charred disgrace
On Fox news, the scenes they're showing
Let's all pray that soon some rain will fall....

California's Burning Down
In the country, in the town
Red showers...of hot sparks
Fly everywhere..
Santana...winds span a
Hundred miles an hour there..
Some folks claim it's the wrath of God
Like Sodom and Gomorra sod
Sadly, lost homeowners trod..
California's Burnin' Down..

California's Fire wild
Ashes and belongings piled
It's badder...and sadder
Than the shake...of an earthquake
A disaster, Bush does declare..
Flies over and views from air
Next year FEMA will be there..
California's Burning Down..

California's Burning Down

These fires are an absolute tragedy. The winds are called "Santa Ana" winds, not Santana as in Carlos or the 1970s Coachmen van conversion. I enjoyed this parody, and don't know the OS, but you still get all 5s. Thankfully, I am safe and sound in South Dakota.

Nice serious piece. Let's hope the weather helps them out over the next few days.

Yes, they always seem to happen around Hallowe'en. The security code stands for our state animal.

Couldn't stop trying to sing it to "London Bridge Is Falling Down" (spin-off fer ya?). Maybe if they asked nicely, Florida and New Orleans would lend them some hurricanes? ok, kidding around on a serious topic. 555

2Eagle: The CAPTCHAs (security codes) are randomly generated for each view, so others don't know what you were seeing.

Thanks, Andria...was aware about Santa Ana, but "Schmooshed" it for pacing purposes....and thanks, alvin..hope you weren't too close to the hot areas........and thanks, Jeff, and 2Eagle....and thanks, TT..guess the first line does fit that tune, as well as "Yankee Doodle"...and thanks, Kristof...

AFW, thank you for being understanding about my "Santa Ana vs. Santana" comment. I know that you would not get the 6 5-5-5 votes that you got, one of which was mine. As for the Coachmen Santana van conversion, it was a van-based motorhome (specifically a Dodge base) that my grandparents owned when I was younger and that I used as a playhouse on occasion.

Arnold is thinking about posting signs at the state borders that say. Welcome to California, the shake and bake state. I was listening to a most enlightening debate about the sodom/gomorrah thing in your song on Christian radio talk show. It got quite heated (excuse the pun, not intended) California is not the kind of place I want to live. Yes we get wild fires here in south Texas but not on that scale and we get our occasional hurricane from the Gulf and the hot summers. But I feel a lot safer here than a lot of other places. Great sentiments for a bad situation in this parody. The funny vote button becomes the how hot button for this parody. 5 Alarms. Excellent and timely.

Re: the "Santa Ana vs. Santana" issue. Although Orange County called those winds "Santa Anas" as far back as the early 1900's, nearly all the rest of the residents called 'em "Santanas" thru at least the 1960's General use of the name "Santa Ana" is relatively new, used either mostly by people who don't know any better, or those who are beholden to the musical references.

Sir " L'Air de Farce " this is really happening now in SoCAL, but sunday ~Angel Island~ across from Tiburon/Belvedere was on fire! it looked like a Volcano, as the flames shot up from the uppermost part .
