Song Parodies -> "Ol Roy"

Original Song Title:

"Oh Boy"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Buddy Holly

Parody Song Title:

"Ol Roy"

Parody Written by:

Airfarcewon

The Lyrics

His dog, Bullet,
And smart horse, Trigger..
No cowboy star was ever bigger,
Than Roy..
He tamed the west, Ol Roy
Of all the rest,
He was...
The best...
Ol Roy

A young farm kid,
I loved his movies..
Saturday nights
Were really groovy,
Oh boy!
Ten cents to see, Ol Roy
Those picture shows
We real..ly would...
Enjoy

Sidekicks, Gabby Hayes, Pat Brady
With Dale E-vans, his lady..
And he never did no kissin' ..no sissy-like stuff,
Shot the bad guys, or fought 'em real tu-uff

With Sons of Pi-o-neers a' singin'
Good clean pictures, he'd be a' bringin'
Ol Roy..
Need him, today, Ol Roy
Of all the rest,
He was..
The best...
Ol Roy

Of all the rest,
He was...
The best...
Ol Roy

Born in Cincinnati, Roy Rogers was actually a stage name. Good thing too, as there is no ring whatsoever to Leonard Slye, King of the Cowboys. Happy Trails, AFW! ;D

I liked the Sons of the Pioneers, but didn't like the violence. You remember everything well.

Yes, thanks, OMR...True, about his name..but I guess you can see why he changed it...lol....and thanks, 2Eagle..but, don't you think that old time brand of violence was pretty tame, compared to today's standards?

A true hero to many of us old farts. Nice flow on the original pacing scheme, and great read. Dug it.

Great job tying Ol' Roy to this classic Buddy Holly song, as both titles as well as your parody have quite some rings to it! Gotta love them cowboy legends! I remember going to a Roy Rogers restaurant (when it was still in business) a long time ago and saw a very old pic of Roy and Dale...who looked so beautiful standing next to him. Anyways I'll leave you with 555's...until then....(singing): "Happy Trails To You, Until We Meet Again!"
