The Lyrics

Original here: http://fleursdumal.org/poem/103 It would probably take a year, but I might try to tackle "Le Bateau Ivre."
Après çela, l’eau agité entre là dedans;

-------------------------------------------

Nature is a storm, where great masts
Can sometimes vanish under the water’s surface.
Men cross the lake in a shipshape craft,
But the wind makes a sound fore and aft; in the past, they ain’t heard it—
Like a long echo in the wires that communicates
With the pitiless rain,
As vast as the quantities endured by Noah, god’s mate.
The cook appears to the seamen with this refrain:
“It’s been good to know you,
But, unfortunately, I think we’re screwed!”
The howl of the squall yowls discordantly—
A lot like the schlock blown by Kenny G.
After that, the turbulent water pours in through side shears;
The ship will rest on the bottom throughout the years.

Merveilleuse adaptation!
