Song Parodies -> "Missile Silos Work"

Original Song Title:

"Whistle While You Work"

Original Performer:

Disney

Parody Song Title:

"Missile Silos Work"

Parody Written by:

Rick Cormier

The Lyrics

His missile silos work
(whistle)
He's very thrilled, is Kim Jong-ill?
His missiles, loud and long
They'll be here very soon
(hum)
He'll do his best to lay to rest
The land of free and strong

There's not much you can do
Don't let it bother you, just live in bubbles
Try to be oblivious as you can be

His missile silos work
(whistle)
A mad upstart with hating heart
His missile silos work

Short but perfectly formed,...you're on a roll, Mr Cormier! 555

Kristof is right...you're already one of the top writers on this site, and in such a short time, too. SInce this is so short, you only get 555, instead of the 10-10-10 yesterday's submission merited. And watch for the Kramer-spilling-his-coffee-episode on Seinfeld that was mentioned in your comments yesterday... he hires Jackie, his lawyer, to sue and it is hilarious.

Clever title switch....and very well done..

Rock on, Rick!

Rick: I've tracked down an mp3 on the net but your version seems to have one more line (the second to last "His missile silos work" I think). Maybe I don't have the right version? (Haven't heard this in ages).

I'll come back to vote when you've laid down the law on this. :-)

I was wondering... is there a town in Illinois called "Kimjong"? Nice, Rick. Though I don't know the song apart from the first two lines (the second of which is whistling, anyway).

Thank you, Kristof, Dee, AFW and Johnny D! Dee, I may have seen that one, after all. Is that the one where the lawyer is a comedic version of Johnny Cochran? Also, do you plan to record a version of "Sixteen Sons"?? Johnny D, is "Angel Street" still running? If so, I'd like to catch it sometime.

Thanks, Phil. I don't know if there is a town by that name in Illinois but, there may be someday soon.

Peter, thanks for keeping me honest. I got the lyrics here: http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/whistle.htm and, there are two versions of the song there. I chose the top version; although it states that the version below is the "Official Version".

Maybe we should start to think about Kim, now that so much progress is being made in Iraq. Fives food for thought, Rick.

the subject matter put to this tune just cracks me up...5s

Thanks John, good point! Alvin, yes, that's what struck me about it when I first matched the titles. Such a jaunty little tune! The contrast helped in the spoof.

Rick: I figured it would be something like that, but I’ll leave it to your woman to make an honest man out of you. :-)

John: The Iran vs North Korea situation is easier understood if you’re familiar with this (otherwise totally unrelated) quote: “People are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it's safer to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs."

no question, Kim is a scary piece of work - and what Kristof said, Rick - "short but perfectly formed" which for some reason makes me think of Kylie - methinks the wombats should do a Kylie parody - 555

Short but sweet!

Wombats: I still have the Real Player file for "I should be so lucky" up on http://k1chyd.adress.eksjo.com/dktos if you wanna use it. I'll keep it over the weekend at least and I do think that the perkiness of the original would make a nice contrast to some political mockery like this, or something similar.

Rick, I do have plans to record Sixteen Sons, but am still trying to talk my best friend, a professional singer/songwriter in Dallas named Jay Johnson, to do the vocals for an entire CD. I've played 20-30 minute sets of my parodies at his gigs for over 10 years, and he loves my stuff and wants to do it, but his wife is his manager and she is not sure it is the best career move for him...so nothing has been decided. My voice is adequate, but he has been named Best Male Vocalist By Texas Music Nation this year and would improve my songs tremendously, which is why I am waiting. Hopefully I can have something recorded by the end of this summer. I'll keep you posted.
