Hello, I’m Rick Cormier. I’m a native New Englander, living in Woburn, MA. I have a wife and three daughters and, during the day, I sell electronic components. (Not stereo equipment but, all of the small components used inside of electronic equipment).
On weekends, I also do sound for Boston area comedians.
Music has always been of interest to me. I started playing guitar and singing lead vocals in original and cover bands about three decades ago. Vocal harmony was always a key element of any band I was in. The Beatles had the biggest impact on me musically. When synthesizers started to get cheaper and more sophisticated, I latched onto that technology and studied piano. I use PC software and a midi keyboard on most of the songs I record.
I have written many original songs but, got into parodies in 2000, when my best friend got married. He put me in charge of the music for his wedding reception (he had five different bands play) and, I thought it would be fun to roast him with a parody. I changed the lyrics to Sinatra’s “My Way” to fit the circumstances and sang it live to a karaoke accompaniment. It was a big hit.
A couple of years later, another friend had a birthday and I wrote a parody for that occasion and, another one later for yet another friend’s birthday. My friend’s urged me to keep doing it so, in 2004, I wrote a few more and recorded them. I will be performing some of my parodies in comedy shows in the near future.
I discovered Amiright.com a couple of months ago (late March of 2005) and, posted the lyrics to a couple of those recorded parodies. The reaction was positive so I wrote some more and submitted them. Now, I can’t seem to stop.
I would like to thank Chucky G. for hosting this looney bin. It’s a lot of fun for me to submit my material and, to read the parodies that others submit.
