The Lyrics

According to an article in the New Yorker, the southern Louisiana land mass is shrinking at the rate of 25 square miles per year. I added the extra line and the two pseudo Cajun lines playing off "Laissez les bon temps rouler," "let the good times roll," a term in common use around Mardi Gras. Literal translation: "Let the bad tides roll and you'll see your chickens roll away."
Keep on sumpin', tide's up, up;
Tide's inside the bayou.
If you don't, you will have to row--
Land goes; let the bad tides roll;
On poultry they'll take a toll.
Laissez les mauvais marées rouler et
Vous verrez vos poulets bouler.

Keep on pumpin', tide's up, up;
Or get stuck in the slough, you.
The waters won't ebb; check weather on Web,
Keep on sumpin', tide's up, up.
