The Lyrics
US President Obama continually promotes his "tax the rich" agenda in multiple campaign-style venues, and insists that Congress act swiftly on his "jobs" bill. His single-mindedness reminded me of TOS about an around-the-clock love obsession. In writing this parody, I took the viewpoint of a disenchanted Obama-2008 voter. Have you seen an Obama-2012 bumper sticker yet?
He repeats with heat the same mantra
That he's sung inside each hall
Like a tick. It's mocked by come-lately flock [1]
Who will stand against his gall.
Like the drip, flip, slip in the drainpipes
That the plumber's powers slew,
So a voice within me keeps repeating, "True Blue's through."
"Right away," orders The One,
"Take this bill and pass it soon, you're under the gun!"
Weathered peers have seen, in brief,
Only scattered parsings. Where's new beef?
Raised to fight, Right says nay, while they don't crow
That this wrong King of Blues wallows, but won't let it show.
As each soaring graft case looms [2]
And the vi'lence of prized unions zooms, [3]
I shrink from Blue.
Day and night, night and day,
He tries to hide from me. [4]

BJM - And here I thought Cole Porter was a man who unloads slaw trucks! O. is in Cincinnati today, using the insufficient (but not in disrepair) I-75 bridge as a background to push his jobs plan. Replacing this structure is important, but this is certainly NOT a shovel-ready project. Wait...wasn't that the subject that evoked snarky laughter from the Prez and his supporters? Fine job as always. ;D
Cole Porter wouldn't have written "tick" instead of "tic" as I did in Line 3.
