Song Parodies -> "Pie, Pie, Blackbirds"

Original Song Title:

"Bye Bye Blackbird"

Original Performer:

Frank Sinatra

Parody Song Title:

"Pie, Pie, Blackbirds"

Parody Written by:

Airfarcewon

The Lyrics

In this old song of sixpence
Not much sense - ergo, hence
Pie, pie, blackbirds

Four and twenty, in, they bake
Pockets full of rye to take
Pie, pie, blackbirds

Could there breathe a child to understand it?
Just a Royal joke, the jester planned it?

Queen eats bread, maid hangs clothes
Blackbird pecks off her nose,
Blackbirds, pie, pie

King chills in the counting house
Parlor hangs, Queen, his spouse
Pie, pie, blackbirds

Counting cash is King's ploy
Honey'd bread gives Queenie joy
Pie, pie blackbirds

Crazy is this nurs'ry rhyme from old times
Castles, Kings and Queens and knights of bold times

Rye to fill blackbird's beak
End of rhyme, child's nose, tweak
Blackbirds, pie, pie

Blackbirds, pie, pie

A masterful pastiche.

Simple Simon hired the Pie Man...Now they have a booth at the Fair....But I don't know if that's really true or a just a fairytale

There's nothing 'masterful' about uninspired drivel-1s

Thanks, GC and Dave....and thanks, Mr. Critique, at least, your comment is inspiring...and a one vote is appreciated..after all, it's a 100% better than 0

Nice wordplay on the somewhat spooky and maiming nursery rhyme. I wonder if Hitchcock took a little inspiration from the original verse.

It's still rubbish and maybe your excuse was that _you_ were "baked" when writing this verbal sewage

Thanks, Warren...and to my number "One" fan......It'll be alright, mr. cricket...We understand, you're mother was probably expecting a child when you were born...

I remember only fragments of nursery rhymes, but it's obvious that this parody has a lot going for it: I know the old OS and it's a good vehicle for your cleverly interwoven snatches of classic kid poetry. "Sixpence" has a childish melody of its own, which you have overridden to good effect. "Critique" is badly mistaken if he/she thinks the 1s and the two comments, which lack critique, should be taken seriously. My 5s are as much a protest against this offensive stupidity as they are praise for the parody (even though it has a few flaws). I shouldn't use 5s to cancel 1s, but What the Hell!
