The Lyrics

There's a new empty shack in the village
There's a new empty shack in the village
The years passed him by,
His age number got high
Uncles Earl's time to go, guess we all have to die..

Oh, what a beautiful mournin'
Oh, what a wonderful wake
Ain't that a beautiful casket,
Purchased from his brother, Jake

All the mourners are standin' like statues
All their faces are sad, "Lookin' at you's"
People shakin' their heads,
Stare a while, then pass by
Owned a little brown Mav'rick
Inerit, hope I..

Oh what a glorious funeral
Look at that smile on Earl's face
I almost envy dear Uncle..
He's in a much better place..

Such an angelic glow on his forehead
He is probably dreamin' of more head
Was a wicked skirt chaser, an active fly guy
Don't think he'll be headin'
Up there to the sky...

Oh what a beautiful mournin'
Thanks to the mortician, Lee
Earl is all rosy and smilin;
Too bad he ain't here to see.

I think I'll have Lee do me....

That was just lovely. :-D

Damn, I thought this was about Hugo Chavez, but I enjoyed it anyway. It's perfect except for plural "Uncles" and no apostrophe after "smilin"; but that's what I'm doin' now. ;^)

ApPALLingly good.

A little dark humor brightens my day. I liked forehead/more head. I wonder was that Uncle Earl's spirit who one bombed you or his last girlfriend? Teach has to knock off points for the 'typos'. I do this to give the 555 scores their true value. I think perfect scores should be flawlessly executed or exceptionally engaging, (as many of your pieces are).

Thanks, LL....Probably the mortician.. :)

Smooth, clever subbing of a classic. It complements "Poor Jud is Dead," also from "Oklahoma!" I'd give all 4's, the reasons for the downgrade being the typos and some pacing glitches. But I ain't scoring. That's a sham as long as it's anonymous. LL: Your comment on scoring is apropos tonight. The coward without a life, i.e., the one-bomber, hit a few of us, including AFW and me (for the 4th straight time). We don't even know if the creep can write his/her name, let alone a parody. Also, the proliferation of 5's by this generous congregation is not helpful to the parodist and is ample evidence of the failure of the current system. Chuck G.: Let the scoring matrix be a mandatory part of the comment, provided there is a "I do not wish to score" option.

AFW - I shoud have such a wake! Al...I've pleaded the same case. Give us an option not to be scored. I am the worst enabler when it comes to fives, but I think my motivation is to counter the maschinations of the one bomber club.

@ Al Silver: Thanks for your support on the 'automatic fives' issue, Al. The nefarious one-bombers we are perhaps powerless to prevent, as long as people are free to vote without comment, but the fives thing is up to us. There's far too much mutual back-scratching going on. Some of the most helpful and valued comments I've received come from those who have the integrity to vote me down and tell me why. It's been a sore point with Tom Turtle for a long time and he's often devoted considerable time and effort (me included) to the vision of seeing better parodies. Basic grammar and punctuation errors should also be unwaveringly pointed out. Personally, I even admonish my readers for not pointing out my own mistakes. Otherwise, what are we all doing here, if not valuing the expert opinions of our peers?
