Song Parodies -> "Rudolf the Red-Nosed AT-AT"

Original Song Title:

"Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer"

Original Performer:

Gene Autry

Parody Song Title:

"Rudolf the Red-Nosed AT-AT"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

Inspired by a pic on FB with an AT-AT sporting a large red nose and the caption: "They used to laugh and call him names"
You know Death Stars and TIEs
Walkers, Droideka
Pit droids, police droids
And podracing speeders
But, hey, have you seen
The silliest Star Wars machine?

Rudolf the red-nosed AT-AT
Had a very shiny nose
Marching across Tattooine
And everywhere the Empire goes
All of the other AT-ATs
Used to laugh and call him names
They wouldn't let poor Rudolf
Fight and kill and stomp and maim

Then one foggy battle scene
Vader came to say
From your design specs, it seems
That nose can shoot laser beams

Then how the Dark Side loved him
As he made the rebels flee
Rudolf the red-nosed AT-AT
You will star in Episode III
..ok, so you have to sing "episode" with two syllables. Close enough :-)

Sorry Phil, but couldn't rate this one b/c after the first verse it gets too silly and inaccurate. The AT-AT doesn't have a nose. The All-Terrain Armored Transports (AT-ATs) were used primarily on Hoth against T-47 Snowspeeders in TESB and were briefly seen in ROTJ when Luke meets with Vader on Endor. Most of that action used speederbikes and AT-STs (All-Terrain Armored Scouts). AT-ATs use a combo of 2x blasters (1 per side w/rangefinder) and 2x Class II turbo laser cannons in the ventral position which would be more accurately the mouth or teeth. AT-STs cannot carry a generator so they use disposable high-intensity power cells that limit range and typically carry twin ventral blasters and one side blaster. The slant flat "nose" on the AT-ST is just armored shielding! FYI

I reconsidered and gave you 555 (as silly as this is)!!! I wrote about a Stuka so you can write about the AT-AT. SW used to be my favorite sci-fi in the '70s-'80s before the new trilogy emerged. I like it b/c Lucas borrowed so many things from Nazi Germany: the blaster long arms were faked MG-34s, the Death Star turbo lasers were based on the 88mm cannon, the entire Stormtrooper idea, Darth Vader (Ger: Dark father derived), Gen Veers German helmet and WW1 uniform design, the entire Empire based on the Reich, and even the Jedis (based on WW2 Allied Jedburgh commandos known in France as Jedis). Even the TIE Fighter screams are from the Stuka's air sirens (even though there is no sound in space)! I laughed in EP.1 when the Trade Federation ships came in to unload the troops- the music and sight of the lumbering beasts reminded me of a German newsreel that showed the Me-321 Gigant flying to Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries!"

Jonathan - thanks :-)

Yes, Rob, it's *supposed* to be silly, and while AT-AT walkers don't normally have noses (or antlers), this was written in response to a FB pic of an AT-AT sporting both.

It's reassuring to know that however much of a nerd I may consider myself for odd sci-fi facts and trivia (though Star Wars isn't my strong point, I must admit), there are always people out there with far greater depth, breadth and pedantry than I will ever aspire to ;-)

er.. "Grown-up"?
..apparently not, it seems.

Phil, some other misc SW trivia: German influences for "Han" Solo, his gun was a faked Mauser C-96, the Princess' hairdo is Germanic, the Death Star derived from German Sun Cannon space station concept for torching cities, and even the configuration of the Millenium Falcon looks like an aerial recon photo of a naval target in Kiel!!! Btw, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is based on some real elements: the SS quest for ancient relics in foreign lands pre-WW2 and during, the Ahnenerbe (German Occult Bureau), the flying wing (although designed apart from Luft '46) STILL looks somewhat like an actual German flying wing design- the Me P.08! But flaws on ROTA are early use of Panzerfaust and some small arms not available then and the entire Jewish cermony which only Levites could perform with the original ephod. All the Ark carried within it was a copy of the Book of Law, a gold jar of manna, and the two tablets. It was the 2 Cherubin atop that actually struck non-Levites dead for touching it. The Nazis in the movie could have never moved it at all... and by legend and Ethiopian royal history it was taken to Ethiopia (Aksum) by Prince Menelik I- NOT Egypt!!!
