The Lyrics

After Arizona's new law takes effect in July, neighboring states without similar measures may see more undocumented workers. My parody of TOS anticipates one deportee's tale some time in the future.
North of the border, New Mexico way,
That's where I dwell, in love with the benefits and outsized pay.
And now as I'm yonder, my thoughts never stray
South of the border, down Mexico way.

There's no derision of bold Spanish face.
Here I can spend a pile, be dressed in style, and earn a place.
But in Arizona, they won't let us stay
North of the border, once Mexico's clay.

There we smiled as we kissed each manana,
Ever streaming in, ne'er departing;
Then were tried and dismissed from nirvana,
All our tomorrows ever lame.

North of the border, I strode back one day,
Under the veil of night, by pale moonlight, a stealthy way.
No prison shall hold me, long as I don't stray
West of the border, toward Arizon-A.
It's time for the "federales" to do their job enforcing national immigration laws, so states needn't.

Love the OS choice on all different levels! (And fine parody riding to boot.... "to boot"! Get it? Oh, I kill me...) :)

Welcome back, F.G. Barry, now they double and triple one bomb, although it is the same unsavory rapscallion. ;D

I like this parody. I agree the that immigration problems are the responsibility of the "federales" and the new Arizona law is a new form of racial profiling as well a step toward apartheid (in apartheid South Africa blacks had to carry passbooks everywhere they went. Is THAT what we want?). There's got to be a better way than that. Have you ever heard "Without A Trace" by Rage Against The Machine or some songs from Bruce Springsteen's Ghost Of Tom Joad album? Your parody rewrite is very good and the lyrical imagery reminds me of those songs. and that's a compliment : )

I'm sorry for delay of replies; I was away for 3 full days & resort's i-connection was erratic.
Fg: LoL @ your double PUNch line.
OMR: Editors need to enable a removal alert for votes (unless ones are deserved) as well as comments.
Rr: I heard that a valid driver's license or state-issued ID card (often asked for credit-card or check use) is all that's needed, and can't be requested unless a person has been stopped for some other violation. I've never heard your cited songs, but will investigate. Thanks to all.
