The Lyrics

I attempt to encapsulate his qualifications as Sir Arthur Sullivan did for one British Navy Secretary long ago. Choral parts are in [ ]. See http://math.boisestate.edu/gas/pinafore/libretto.txt for original lyrics.
When I was a lad, I served interned
At madrassa, but swear I never learned
Bi-meaning phrases, though I slept with Kor-
an; abolished all the vandals who would dig for gore.
Abolished all those vandals so verily
That now I am a presidential nominee!

[Abolished all those vandals so verily
That now he is a presidential nominee!]

From madrassa, moved to Western schools
Where they taught me well most of the Golden Rules.
I passed their tests by a mile, so grand,
And I swished those outside baskets with my big left hand.
I swished those outside basket hoops so handily,
That now I am a presidential nominee!

[He swished those outside basket hoops so handily,
That now he is a presidential nominee!]

In dunking shots, I made such a name
That a Harvard-law perk I soon would claim;
Spied fourteen-dollar second-hand blue suit
For the bar examination, bore me instant fruit;
On that bar examination, did so well, you see,
That now I am a presidential nominee!

[On that bar examination, did so well, you see,
That now he is a presidential nominee!]

With legal knowledge, I acquired such a lip
That I hooked a teaching professorship,
And taught Juniors part-time, in between
Organizing neighborhoods and thinking green.
That organizing so rooted me,
That now I am a presidential nominee!

[That organizing so rooted he,
That now he is a presidential nominee!]

I knew so much that I was sent
Via knocked-out ballot to the State Senate.
I always voted at my party's call,
And I never brought a blinking floor-vote bill at all.
I brought so little, they rewarded me
By making me a presidential nominee!

[He brought so little, they rewarded he
By making him a presidential nominee!]

I rose so fast with party loyalty,
That they sent me off to Washington, D.C.
I was the keynote speaker and I was so cool
At 2004's convention, but was no fool.
My gift of peroration's propelling me,
As I begin new presidential dynasty!

[His gift of peroration's propelling he,
As he begins new presidential dy -- nas -- ty!]

My opening lines are awkward and offensive. Substitute these instead: When I was a lad, I served a term At madrassa, to start life's journey firm. I gleaned much wisdom, was adept with Kor- an, but shook dust off my sandals, cared no fig for war. I shook dust off my sandals ... etc.
