The Lyrics

Everybody should be shown a little regard
Whether royalty, or gardener of the yard
It ain't no fun to be someone who's always ignored
It's easier to flash a smile, than keepin' it stored
Spred a little sunshine, when the storm clouds your mood
Just give, don't be conservative with..Gratitude..

When ladies stroll a nude beach, gawk a moment and stare
Never be an ice man, throw a warm glance out there,
Be thankful for policemen with their "Walk a beat" jobs
Thank the farmers when you're eatin' corn on the cobs
And thank The Beatles for their big hit song, "Hey, Jude"
There ain't no finer thing to show than..Gratitude.

Gratitude..
It's what you must have
Gratitude..
If naught else, just have
Gratitude..
Crack thru the crust, have
Some Gratitude, appreciation,
Loosen up, Dude..

Gratitude..
Ya' know ya' owe it,
Gratitude..
C'mon and sow it,
None is rude..
So share and show it
Give Gratitude, appreciation,
Loosen up, Dude..

If someone is neglectful ask 'em why..intrude
You have a right to human rights..demand Gratitude..

Parents, teach good manners, courtesy, to their brood
It's your responsiblity to show Gratitude..

Thank the Lord your brakes work and your car didn't wreck
Thank the bank each time you go and cash your pay check
Take some time to count your blessings, for each new day
Treat a cashier kindly and "You're welcome," they'll say
Thank that old shoemaker that your feet are both "Shoe'd"
Make this your week to blaze a streak of..Gratitude..

Everybody should be shown a little regard
Whether royalty, or gardener of the yard
It ain't no fun to be someone who's always ignored
Much easier to flash a smile, than keepin' it stored
Spred a little sunshine, tho' a storm clouds your mood
And give, don't be conservative with..Gratitude..

Gratitude..
It's what you must have
Gratitude..
If naught else, just have
Gratitude..
Crack thru your crust, have
Some Gratitude, appreciation,
Loosen up, Dude..

Gratitude..
Ya' know ya' owe it,
Gratitude..
Ya' better sow it,
None is rude..
So share and show it
Show Gratitude, appreciation,
Give it up, Dude..

Show Gratitude, appreciation,
Give it up, Dude..

AFW - Thank you for this one. There really are words for In The Mood, but the definitive recording (and ultimate swing anthem of all time) is the Miller version. Legend has it that the trumpet solo was by future band leader/arranger Billy May. ;D
