Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

A tribute to Rosa Parks, who just passed away
Rosa Parks,
We give high marks
She's quite a lady
For her bravery so many years ago..

On the bus,
She caused a fuss
This forthright lady
Tried to send her to the back, but she said, "No"

A pioneer for civil rights
She was arrested
In Montgomery, Alabama
Led away..
Long court trial later ruled
In her favor..
Each November, folks remember..
This brave deed helped to stop segragation
And she stood up for freedom,
Sitting down, that day

Yes, she stood up for freedom,
Sitting down, that day..
Thank you, Rosa..

I was thinking of rewriting R.E.M.'s "Stand" as "Sit," but figured the "now, babe" part wouldn't be appropriate. Of course, with Nat having been beaten onstage during an Alabama concert, while the bus boycott was still going on, makes this one quite appropriate. Five bus transfers.

I'm completely confused. This is to Nat Cole's Mona Lisa?
