The Lyrics

I regret the “I Put a Spell on You” orgy in the sense that it’s annoying to some, maybe lot, of you. I realize that, but the bad news is: I decided to challenge myself to come up with 500 parodies that play in some way on the fourth syllable of the title. If you find them annoying, irritating, whatever, I suggest you ignore them. I’ve committed to five a day max till I leave on an extended excursion, for most of Sept. The good news: during that period there’ll be no “Spell” parodies or anything else from me. After I’ve wrapped it up on return, I guarantee I’ll never do another Hawkins take-off. I made that promise at other milestones, but this time I mean it. Whew! I sound like a f**king politician. Speaking of which, I used to do a lot of political parodies. I backed off for a while, but unfortunately I have a bunch queued up, and I’m gonna submit them. Can’t say I’ll never do another of those, but there won’t be many—not worth the effort, because by their acts and deeds, pols virtually write them for you. Again, I’m sorry; I appreciate the forbearance.
I’ll put some steel on you,
the stainless kind.

Your Sterling has a grayish hue—
I tried wipin’,
but I’m still gripin’.

You know that it’s tarnished
from sitting around
in the air—near varnished
with patina that’s harnessed my frowns.

That’s why I’ve steel for you,
the stainless kind,
to dine.

Silver’s hue,
though not blue,
makes me blue,
so I blew it ’way now.

In a flame flare:
2000 degrees,
melted it down,
made earrings.

So that’s my steely view. . .
a bit unkind.

Actually, after consulting my spiritual adviser and contemplating this Teapot Tempest (to which I was on the verge of overreacting in protracted fashion), I'm relenting. I do, however, have a Hawkins hoard from which I'll probably parcel out small packages periodically, starting at some later date.
