The Lyrics

Fifty-some years ago, an animal species was invading public parks, enticing humans to feed them, refusing to pick up their droppings, and proliferating. One composer proposed his solution in TOS. Another species arrived on September 17 in NYC and has spread to other cities' parks since. It tweets incessantly, as in this message from one invader to another of the species.
Fall this year brings Arab Spring so near;
Life in middle-class strife's so drear.
I think "free love" at this time of the year,
So I sing on cue for Blue, if hoarse or true.
But there's one thing that makes singing neat for me,
Replacing the Sunday Retreat for me.

All the world's filled with loons as we sing Sixties tunes
While we're protesting Wall Street in the park.
Maybe one day 'twill be fine sweet harmony
'Cause we protested Wall Street in the park.

When they hear us strumming, the bankers will fly 'n' ride;
But they'll bill no more fees that are bloated for buy 'n' slide.

Like Huns we will fight till they bring fees to light,
When we've focused our visions in the park.

We've feigned no sobriety and caused much decri-ety
In the Heritage Society with our claims.
They blamed incapacity and lack of veracity,
Obama's opacity and fanning the flames.
But it's not against our Constitution
To want to impose restitution.

So if done paying fees high-toned universities [1]
Charge, we'll protest tuitions in the park.
And maybe we'll screw in a burled church pew [2]
While we protest religions in the dark.

We'll tutor them all and thereafter we'll verify, [3]
Rejecting the few whose lake homes unions terrify.

My pulse soon will elevate as protests accelerate
To worldwide proportions; slash income distortions
By protesting Wall Street in the park!
[1] I'm sorry about the extra syllable there.
[2] Squirrel that away in your fantasy; if you are caught, I didn't write that.
[3] Roseanne Barr advocated re-education camps and worse.

After 30+ hits, no comments and only 1 vote, I feel as Tom Lehrer must have felt on the cover of his Revisited album (q.v.) with the tiny audience.

BJM - How nice is this! Skewering the loony leftists with a parody of Tom Lehrer. Remember - Speaking geometrically, two lefts don't make make right...but three do! (I love 270 degree turns!) ;D

OMR: Thanks; a corollary is that three invented "rights" make a lefty. ;^)
BTW, this is my 17th Lehrer parody; how many more songs did he write?

Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory and Daniel Radcliffe on the Graham Norton show both brought 'The Elements' to a younger audience, and you have just reworked 'Poisoning Pigeons' for the same! Good work!

I've never thanked a "pickle", but this one obviously has good taste. ;^)
Tom Lehrer created one "cyanide" rhyme; I needed to make up two.
