Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Falsies Brunhilde"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

Once a large contralto sang about the Nibelung
Costumed as Wagneresque Valkyrie
But a small voice was heard as she paused to fill her ample lungs
"Those look like falsies, Brunhilde, to me"

Falsies Brunhilde, falsies Brunhilde
Those look like falsies Brunhilde to me
For a small voice was heard as she paused to fill her ample lungs
"Those look like falsies, Brunhilde, to me"

Down came the singer, down to the orchestra pit
Skittling flautists and cellists with glee
And she ranted and raved as she flattened half the orchestra
"Who called out 'falsies, Brunhilde' to me?"

Falsies Brunhilde, falsies Brunhilde
Who called out "falsies Brunhilde" to me
And she ranted and raved as she flattened half the orchestra
"Who called out 'falsies, Brunhilde' to me?"

Up jumped the oboist, tried to make his getaway
Tripped on a trombone and sent it off-key
And he whined as the marauding Alto dropped on top of him
"Did I say 'falsies, Brunhilde'? Not me!"

Falsies Brunhilde, falsies Brunhilde
Who shouted "falsies, Brunhilde", not me
And he screamed as he vanished underneath the valkyrie
"Did I say 'falsies, Brunhilde'? Not me!"

Up reared Brunhilde, whipping off her armour plate
Proudly displaying immense double-Ds
And jaws could be seen dropping all around the op'ra house
Those sure ain't falsies, Brunhilde, whoopee

Falsies Brunhilde, falsies Brunhilde
Those sure ain't falsies, Brunhilde, whoopee
And jaws could be seen dropping all around the op'ra house
Those sure ain't falsies, Brunhilde, whoopee

Poor little oboist, stuck under the embonpont
Asphyxiated, but did die happy
Now his ghost may be heard as fat ladies sing the Nibelung
"Those look like falsies, Brunhilde, to me"

Falsies Brunhilde, falsies Brunhilde
Those look like falsies Brunhilde to me
Now his ghost may be heard as fat ladies sing the Nibelung
"Those look like falsies, Brunhilde, to me"

:-) Thanks, all...

Patrick - much as I'd love to, I'm not sure I'd have the wherewithal to do a video to this one (do you think they'd let me borrow Covent Garden and a Valkyrie?)

(SOTM) Ah, what a great way to go.Good story, funny, and good use of some of the original phrases from OS. Liked it.

SOTM: I kind of got lost halfway through it, not bad...funny story, but not that funny IMO.

(SOTM) Ditto Abbot. I thought it was pretty funny in some spots, but I did get lost in a few spots. I was lost on the subject until the lyric about double D's. It was a good read, though. 455

Still not "covering up" my admiration for this wonderful parody!

I bust confess that I didn't see it coming; double D replacingd high C as the most admirable trait at the opera...

Boobs aren't exactly an original topic, but getting flashed at the Opera House by a huge German chick however is extremely original as well as extremely funny.

(SOTM) I thought it was about false teeth until the flashing verse...I stand corrected and throughly creeped out (fat lady boobs...*shudder*). Ahem. 555 for this German take on a classic Aussie tune!

SOTM...hilarious, Phil! I can just see it all playing out in my head!

It paced well, I see a lot of people mentioning boobs--but I have to say, I was just confused/lost/etc other than "double-ds" I had never heard these terms, that goes for TOS too (except the Double Ds) sorry--I never thought I'd be 'out of the loop' on slang.
Mean Aunt Cindy - July 31, 2009 - Report this comment
SOTM...I love a good boob but not under false pretenses. I had to look up a couple words but was able to figure it out by the context of the song.

LOLesque story coupled with hilarious couplets makes this one immediately go into my top five. Brilliant title sub, too.
