The Lyrics

I wanted to do something slightly different for my five hundred and fifty-fifth parody (I had been hoping to hit 5555 votes at the same time, but unless this one gets a couple of hundred, that ain't gonna happen ;-)). So here's five different partial parodies to celebrate the numbers 5, V and five. No prizes (other than the respect of your peers) for guessing the OSs in each case.
My dear readers, it is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure
that I welcome you tonight. And now, I invite you to relax,
pour yourself a beer, as I proudly present... my five-hundred
and fifty-fifth parody

Five five five!
Five five five!
Holy cow and saints alive!
I've been shirking and not working,
Parodies are such a skive
Some of that, some of this
Some that really take the piss
Scripting songs with biting humour
'Bout as welcome as a tumour
Make you laugh at the wit
Some are good and some are ...not
Though perfection is for what I always strive
And because I wrote 'em
Why not join in, vote 'em
Five five five!
Five five five!
Five five five!

*** 5 *** 5 *** 5 ***

This parody I'm writing's for the one after 554
I said: hey, everybody! This parody has gotta score.
I said vote on it once, vote on it twice
So what it's cheating, but ain't I worth it, guys?
I said I'm writing this: the one after 554

*** V *** V *** V ***

I was workin' when I wrote this
I'll be fired if it goes astray
But when the boss comes over
I just move the window out the way

One seven zero zero work is over
Will it ever arrive?
But for now pretend I'm working, writin' number five fifty-five

*** F *** I *** V *** E ****

22B
Is the number hexidecimally
And in octal, it's ten-fifty-three
But it don't scan in binary*

DLV
Roman numerals are strange to me
They make counting go illogic'ly
And it's not simply VVV

Why I had to write all this shite.. Hell, I can't say
Well, it seemed a great idea, late yesterday

*** D *** L *** V ***

I tried to write
My mind was blank
I needed time to think
To get a subject in my mind

What can I write?
Not done before
I've covered every top-
Ic in the last five-forty-four

'Cause what I write
In parody
Are the reflections of my warped mind
Rhymed maniac'ly

And in my songs
The seeds are sown
Degrading puns that twist the mind
And force another groan

Ooooh!

The song begun and soon was almost done
I think you get the gist - who'd bother reading this?
Such a sight of poorly-worded shite
'Cause rhyming is a skell (so's knowing how to spell)
555 The number of this piece
Well, I guess it's time you voted... please.

Well, it's early, Phil, and my brain isn't totally in gear yet(so folks might say they don't think it ever is). I only recognize "The one after 505" by the Beatles (that might even be the exact title, but that's how I think of it). Maybe after I know more of the OS's I can come back and vote...anyway, if I have a chance I will check back on the thread and see what the other songs might be and if I know them. BUT, regardless of all that, CONGRATS on #555...let's see, if I STRECTH a litlte I can self-promise myself here...lol...I have ALMOST 1/2 that many (273 or 274, I think). Wow! I'm thinking of how long it would take me to reach 555, I'll have been posting here 2 years on Nov. 10th...

Corny albeit, but a self-aware corny that I can respect from a guy that I already do. Also, my parents made me watch the Emmy's last night which redefined some of my notions about corny. I got your 'Beastly' intro, but I couldn't get the others. Anyhow, congrats and here's to 555 more, you grammatikaly obcessed, buggered out debugger of a godless heathen. And your mother was a hamster. And your father smelled of something...

5's well earned.

Come on, get wit de votin', people. You heard da man, we gotta get to 5555 but fast.
Phil Alexander - September 19, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks for trying, 2nz :-) Yep, it's a beastly intro, but there's another "beastly" number there, too... and nÂș4 should be instantly guessable
Paul - ISTM that you've done nearly half as many parodies in about half the time: at our age, we can afford to be patient ;-)

Well, I was going to drop a 555 on your 555th parody anyway, but this is earned, though all I recognise is "Yesterday". No verse to the "Major-General's Song"? Shame. ;-)

RA - funnily enough, I was thinking of a M-G verse, but it got ousted by the Yesterday one...

Congrats on #555, Philbo. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Well, OK, it could have, but I'm trying to be polite. Heh heh.

I've got 'em all figured out but the last one. How 'bout a clue?
Arwen - September 19, 2005 - Report this comment
I got three of the OS's on my own...(so I know 4, counting the one Paul revealed for me)...Are we supposed to share them here? Because I will. I can use all the respect from my peers that I can get. I'm sure as hell not going to get it by posting parody 555 any time soon...; )

Congrats, Phil...and nice job on the parts I recognized...=)
Phil Alexander - September 20, 2005 - Report this comment
A clue, Spaff? There was a bit of a clue in my first comment... re-reading it, it's actually quite a bit of a clue (for any metal fans, that is)
Arwen - of course, feel free to share 'em here.. where else, after all?
And thanks :-D
Rick C - September 20, 2005 - Report this comment
Congrats on 555, Phil and, please accept my vote of the same number.
Agrinorfee - September 20, 2005 - Report this comment
I'm lost, Phil. The first one *might* be The Backstreet Boys, but no way in heck could I figure out the rest. 555 irregardless (and may ye have many more!)
Spaff.com - September 20, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks to that clue, Philbo, I figured out the last one. Which means I RULE.
stuart mcarthur - September 21, 2005 - Report this comment

Who is Agrinorfee? Is it agrimorfee misspelling his own name?
