Parody Song Title:

"Alexa"

The Lyrics

One of 2016's most-purchased electronic Christmas gifts was the Amazon Echo, equipped with the voice-prompted Alexa app that is available also on other devices. Unlike Siri for Apple phones, this name is not uncommon in English-speaking nations. My parody speculates on a worst-case family whose father has a problem with it. I omitted the very repetitive intro to the OS.
Alexa!
I just met an app named Alexa,
And suddenly there's blame:
They'll ever heed that name,
My three!

Alexa!
My daughter and wife, named Alexa,
Can't certainly come 'round
To answer full name's sound
From me.

Alexa!
Say it loud when they choose delaying;
Say it soft when it's calm, quest relaying.

Alexa!
I'll have to stop saying Alexa!

Can't just two be around? Why have our third
A-lex-a?

The software needs to have a way to change the trigger name, other than switching to another language.

Barry J. Mitchel - January 27, 2017 - Report this comment
Today's Wall Street Journal has a front-page article about families with a member named Alexa (none yet with two as in my lyrics of January 4th). Amazon says that the owner can change the trigger name, as suggested in my footnote, but that feature was not advertised or in the instructions.
