The Lyrics

A poetry parody
The boy stood on the burning deck,
The flames around him red
Blew on his feet and danced like heck,
Darned good hot foot, he said

What fool would burn these playing cards
Some weird mischievous elf
If I were King, I'd call the guards,
And hang the imp, myself !

He rubbed his scorched and sizzled toes
And whimpered from the pain
A half burned joker on the floor
Evoked a thought, "Insane!"

The king and queen of hearts survived
As did the jack, ten, nine
Aha! he said, a high straight flush
A pot of luck is mine..

The boy stood on the burning deck,
It's trademark was a bike
He thought, I do like playing cards,
But burns, I do not like

Thoughts wandered to card games he'd played
Old poker memories
If asked right now. "How many cards?"
He'd say, "I'll stand on these.."

He spied a spade among the charred
And with a scowl, he said,
I'll use that spade to bury him,
The scoundrel, when he's dead..

I'll use that spade to bury him
The scoundrel, when he's dead..

Thanks, alvin....Correction: co-title of original is spelled, "Casabianca"...guess I typ-o'd and left out the second "c"

I feel like the guy in this parody did after I lose all my money at the casino. (Which is why I only gamble once a year, on my birthday.) You are the best as far as poetry parodists go in my opinion, and one of the best (if not THE best) music parodists here on AmIRight. 5s.

Well, I thank you very much, Andria...for your praise and kind comments...

careful, Sir !! The keys words in Andrio's response are, " I feel like the guy. . . "

Um, UnknownVO, it's Andria, not Andrio. Thanks for the recognition of my comment, though.

I thought I had read all the parodies of that corny old poem, but this one is new to me. Cheers to the "joker" who thunk it up. AFW, you're a real "ace" when it comes to writing parodies! I'll remember this one next time I'm in Atlantic City.
