Triple negative plus conjoined prepositions. That is really crappy English just to complete the rhyme and meter. And why is it (we're told) that one cannot remember one's name because there's no one else around to cause one pain?

Why They're Nonsensical:
No one can sleep on a rainbow. A rainbow is just an illusion, therefore, nobody can even touch one. Therefore, this lyric describes something that is literally impossible.

Think a triple negative (which implies a negative) is bad? Try this quadruple negative, the summit of horrible grammar. But at least the meaning is decipherable.

Why They're Nonsensical:
Dewey Bunnell said he got the vibe for this song while standing on the side of Ventura Blvd. While some other guy he was with was changing a flat tire or something. The whole California scene flashed before him and what came out? 'Alligator lizards in the air?' Still, alligators and lizards are two different kinds of reptiles; a hybrid of them just seems nonsensical.
