"Hooked on a Feeling"
Misheard Lyrics: Kacha kahoo, kahoo, kahoo
Original Lyrics: Ooga, Chaka, ooga, ooga

Story about this misheard lyric by: Old Comedywriter This comes from your mind synching up with the wrong start point of the sequence, and changing the whole order of the sequence. Other songs can do this too. It's like dancing and starting with the second step instead of the first, and using the second step as the beginning over and over. |

"Hooked on a Feeling"
The Repetitive Lyrics: Ooga chuka ooga ooga chuka ooga
ooga chuka ooga ooga chuka Why They're Repetitive: Every time this song starts playing on the radio I think I'm watching the friggin' discovery channel.

"Hooked On A Feeling"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: Ooga Chukka, Ooga Ooga Ooga Chukka...
[Background singers, throughout song] Why They're Nonsensical: This is the correct spelling--on the 45 rpm single it's given as the alternate title. They chant it throughout the song. (At a Shakey's in Gardena, California, ther 'Ooga Ooga Chukka' part was even included on the piano roll in the player piano.) It sounds like the singers are playing choo-choo train.

"Hooked On A Feeling"
The Inappropriate Lyrics: Ooga chacka, ooga chacka, ooga ooga ooga chacka...
Why They're Inappropriate: The "jungle chanting" which occurs for much of the song (but not on the original version by BJ Thomas). What does it have to do with the main lyrical content?
