Band Name Origins:

  • The band Linkin Park's name (before the addition of Chester Bennington) when they first formed in 1996 was Xero, at that point they had made a four track demo tape. They had later (after the adittion of Chester Bennington) changed their name to Hybrid Theory and recorded the Hybrid Theory EP. Due to legal conflict with the British electronic music group Hybrid, they changed their name to Linkin Park, a name paying homage to Lincoln Park, located in Santa Monica, CA. Submitted by: Danny
  • Referring to the 'chain linkin' concrete. It's actually chain link AND concrete. So therefore their name could not have come from a song. Thank you! :] Submitted by: Kazz.

Stupid Band Names:

  • Why do they use Russian letters (those reversed 'N's) in the name 'Linkin'? Pronounced correctly, their name would be 'Licky Park'! Submitted by: Auditor
  • It reminds me of a mix between Lincoln Logs & Tinker Toys. Put them together and you have one "contrabulous fabtraption!" Submitted by: Cerulean
  • Actually, the band name isn't stupid but it is a cheap band name . The band decided on "Linkin Park" so they would be next to "Limp Bizkit" in record stores and in other places. This cheap because they are gaining popularity and album sells through being next to an already successful band. Submitted by: Nick
  • They aren't stupid, but the name just makes me think of Lincoln Logs, spelled incorrectly. Linkin Log Cabin! Ha! Submitted by: S.T.G.

"We Made It"
Better Lyrics:
Together we're wasted (You see, we're wasted, coppers)
We're wasted even though we never drank any alcohol
When we got breath-tested
Cops think that we were drunk but we've been walking from Queen Street to here: Queens Road
(through 6 suburbs)
To Queens Road (in 14 hours)
To Queens Road (from the city to this quiet little ghetto)
To Queens Road (walk with me)
To Queens Road (don't try and stop me)
To Queens Ro-o-oad (yeah, yeah, yeah, yo!)
Original Lyrics:
Together we made it (you see we did it niggas)
We made it even though we had our backs up against the wall (c'mon)
Forever we waited (haha!)
And they told us we were never going to get it
but we took it on the road (to the riches)
on the road (to the ghetto)
on the roooooad (in the projects to this bangin instrumental)
on the road (ride with me) *yeah, yeah*
on the road (you come and get it) *yeah, yeah*
on the roooooooad *yeah, yeah, yeah, yo!*

Nonsensical Song Lyrics:

"Easier to Run"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
Sometimes I think of letting go
And never looking back
And never moving forward
So there'd never be a past
Why They're Nonsensical:
How does that work? First he's talking about moving on with his life, then he says he wants to stay in the present and not move forward. Surely those cancel each other out?

The Nonsensical Lyrics:
Yo, peep the style and the kids checking for it

The Lyrics:
I never knew what it was like
