Story about this misheard lyric by: S. Tim Wood

Even Stan Freberg made light of this misheard lyric in his send-up of the song.

Bad Grammar in Song Lyrics:

"Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor"
The Lyrics:
Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor
On the bedpost overnight?
Why:
This is the way the song's title was printed on the record. Lonnie should have thought that "its", the possessive, does not have an apostrophe. Otherwise, it means "it is". Technically, the song's title is "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It Is Flavor".
